Opry Live??!!
Struggled to watch Opry Live on cable last night. It was only an hour long. Wasn't the great Classic Country with the spot-light on Steel & Fiddles when they first started the Opry on TV. Some steel was played, but not much. The great Tommy White played some on I think one song. My point is I felt forced to watch in hopes of hearing & seeing steels played. Saw an Emmons & Zum--saw a distant shot of Tommy's Show Pro. At the end I could tell it was packaged strictly for the new rock-in-rollized country lovers. I remember when the Opry showed the great classic artists on TV just as they performed on the radio broadcasts, but I know us Classic Country lovers are over-ruled by the big money power of the Gaylord empire. What a shame!

I understand your frustration Butch, but the televised portion always features really current stuff. Mostly the newer stuff. Don't expect that segment to change anytime soon.
If you have occasion to actually visit the Opry and sit through the entire show, I think you'd see many of your heroes doing more traditional music with lots of steel guitar. That's been my experience at least, even though I haven't been able to attend in a couple of years, and I've always gotten my steel guitar fix every time I've been to the show in person.
