Wiring Speakers in parallel for a Fender Twin

Post by Jason Williams »

Hey everyone, I'm trying to wire 2, 12" speakers at 8 ohms a piece, in parallel in order to make 4 ohms out of one speaker jack of a Fender Twin. Can anyone point me to a website, or explain to me how to accomplish this. I think I'm doing it wrong. With 1x15 at 4 ohms, the amp sounds great. With 2x12's at 8 ohms they break up like there is a bad connection. Two separate sets of 12's used were new or close to it, and all connections were soldered. I'm starting to think I have the terminals hooked up improperly, any thoughts?

You need to connect the "Plus" connections on both speakers to one side of the speaker line from the amp and both "Minus" connections on the speakers to the other side of the speaker line from the amp.

This show both series and parallel methods. Note that two 8 ohm on series is 16 ohms and two 8 ohm on parallel yields a 4 ohm load
