I s the old coming back

Post by Jerry Miller »

I was talking with some other bands here in town last night and the topic came up that the "new" country sound is going out and the old is coming back and the reason that I am asking is the last four bands that have ask me to play all play the older sound and don't want anything to do with the new sound so what do you guys think?

maybe & maybe not..

but for tonight, I am subbing with Appaloosa they play mostly older tunes (pre Y2K) at a VFW in Millington MD.,

then it's back to the modern country era next week with Coupe DeVille.... if it's a hit and they dance to it, we play it.
We do a full set of Cadillac tunes. lol

You would never know by the audiences that we play for up here. From 9:00p to about 10:00 - 10:30p the crowd likes the old country tunes, from then on it's more rock country or modern country.

The VFW sub gig was fun! Great tunes, nice stage volume, very fine crowd. Many in costume for Halloween.
We played until midnight to an appreciative crowd.
There was an interesting sign in the dressing/bathroom.
I post this photo for the humor, not the politics..

Here is something that I do find a bit surprising but the band enjoys immensely. Our band has a well rehearsed and practiced Hank Williams Sr. show that goes for about 40 minutes. Once we get into it, 70% – 80% of the audience sings along with the band. It's almost like the old sing-a-longs. That tells me that even the younger crowd is still aware and knows some of the old country classics by Hank Williams.
