Over the years I've worked on many sessions for other people but have never had the occasion to do any for myself so I haven't been involved in the finalizing of a product!
My wife and I have been working in a studio to do our own CD and we're in the mixing stage at the moment. I've done all the instruments myself with the exception of having a guitarist friend of mine (Russell Williford) come in and play his part(s) on "Sugarfoot Rag" as we do it live with a band and I like the arrangement. This is the first time I've paid for my own studio time and all that so now comes the "fun" part, putting the product out!
The owner of the studio has the facilities to do all this, and can make finished professional copies but he charges $8.00 apiece. That seems too high doesn't it? It seems like you'd have to sell a bunch of 'em to make back even part of the studio costs! Then there's always the copies you have to give away, and I'll probably give away more than I can sell! I know a guy who does his own CD's from Karaoke tracks and just sings along with them then sends them to Nashville and gets them done for $2.48 each if he orders 200 copies....
Since I'll have the master copy, what's a trustworthy place to get them done? I'll have a picture for the front of the CD but I'd like to have one of the folding inserts for the CD case to put some liner notes and info inside. Does anyone know of a good reputable company who could do this for me at a reasonable price. And how would I go about contacting them........Thanks in advance....JH in Va.

pressing CDs
Jerry, before the coming of CDs I did a tape and now have done a CD like you are doing. I had both pressed by National Tape and Disc in Nashville and was very pleased with the price and service. If Forum members have had a bad experience with this company they will probably post it.
