MS Word fomat tab template ?

Post by Bob Hoffnar »

Anybody have a Word tab document I can use ? I am hand writing some tab and would like to have it in a more legible format before I send it out. So I need to be able to type on it in my MS word program.

Thanks, Bob

Excel

Bob, I know you said MS Word but have you considered or have Microsoft Excel?
It has work for me and is very easy to use………. Once you get familiar with it.
Just a suggestion.
By the way your pickup is working out great!

I 2nd the idea of using the spreadsheet rather than the word processor. It's much easier to move things around that way.

Personally, I wish all the tab looked like this with the numbers and letters ON the lines rather than above the lines (or in the spaces).

┌───────────────────────────┬───────────────────────────┐
├───────────────────────────┼───────────────────────────┤
├───────────────────────────┼───────────────────────────┤
├───────────────────────────┼───────────────────────────┤
├─────────────────────0~~0A─┼───────────────────────────┤
├───────────────0~~0B───────┼───────────────────────────┤
├─────────────0─────────────┼───────────────────────────┤
├──────0──0F────────────────┼───────────────────────────┤
├────0──────────────────────┼───────────────────────────┤
└──0────────────────────────┴───────────────────────────┘

Just my personal preference but most guys don't do it this way. Not sure why. It doesn't take that much more effort.

On this forum, the spacing gets off a little because of the font. But on my computer, it's perfect.

IF you have an installed font with musical notes, you can even add those at the top or bottom of each line of tab for timing.

Excel File

Here is the very simple excel file that I use. I shaded the odd number strings to distinguish them quicker. Hope it helps someone.
