top ten country music women

It is easy to play the steel guitar. Playing so that the audience finds it pleasing is the difficult act.

Actually, the thread is entitled "top ten country music women", and the OP asked, "Do you agree?". It didn't specify on which basis that should be judged. Naturally, since we're talking about country music, and these are country music singers, not models, I took their singing as the focal point.
Personally, I couldn't care less what a singer looks like if she can really sing - and no amount of great looks will sway me if she can't. OK, maybe that puts me in the minority, but that's the way I look at it.

Did you bother to read the title of the video to which Sherman provided the link, along with the text I italicized in my earlier post that was included in the description by the You Tube poster?Dave Mudgett wrote:Actually, the thread is entitled "top ten country music women", and the OP asked, "Do you agree?". Dave, please tell me you're not serious.

No, I didn't, and yes I am serious. When it comes to music, I couldn't care less about the "who's hot, who's not" People Magazine or National Enquirer take on it, and I am completely blind to that view. Are you suggesting that it's important to follow the angle of someone on youtube? When I look at a youtube link, unless something particularly catches my curiosity, I don't generally pay attention to the comments, which are frequently idiotic banter.
Nor do I think we necessarily know the angle the OP had on it. I took his title at face value - "top ten country music women" - the topic of this forum is "Music", n'est ce pas? Theresa and I both took it this same way, and I'm with her on this 100%.
I will make critical comments with any angle I want. Anybody is completely free to disagree with me, that's cool. But I am not remotely swayed in this case. If the post had been entitled "10 hottest-looking country music women. Do you agree?", I would not have bothered to respond. Although I don't know this as fact, I tend to doubt that most of us here are remotely fascinated with that topic either.
BTW - if you wanna talk about sheer physical beauty, Emmylou Harris outclasses most any singer I can think of, and she is certainly on my list of top 10 country music singers - I didn't try to make an exhaustive list earlier.

You are completely missing my point.
I agree with you 100% about the "looks" thing vs. quality of music. But once again, that isn't what the thread is about.
You, Theresa, and 100 others can take the thread in the direction of singing quality until the cows come home, no law against that as far as I know, but vagueness of his title aside, Sherman asked if we agree with the premise of the guy whom posted the You Tube video. There is nothing to agree with or dispute until one clicks on the link, reads the title and subtitle as it were of the video and watches the thing, which is centered around physical attractiveness of female so-called country singers.
That's all it's about - nothing more, nothing less.
Shame on you Sherman, for being so vague!

Mark, to be honest, I don't know what the OP had in mind. It's vague, I'm not a mind reader, I only know what he wrote, and I don't give a damn what some random youtube poster thinks about 'hottest blah blah'.
This is a freakin' music forum and when it comes to music, that's the only thing I care about. So I interpreted the OP's question as being about music. You interpreted it the way you wanted to, no problem. So I think I get your point, but I disagree. I will continue to interpret things the way I want to, and the cows will definitely be home for a long time before I change that.

I thought that "hot" singers lived in Death Valley.
When you do open the YouTube clip it does say
"Best looking country music female singers in random order. (Top Ten)".
So apparently the person who posted the clip, on YouTube, is judging the artist on looks, not popularity of their music or if there is a steel in their music.

It's clear what the YouTube poster meant, but not what Sherman meant. Sherman, you could clear this up by saying whether you read, and meant to ask if people agree with, the caption under the video that says "Best looking etc."
The YouTube poster certainly represents the demographic the commercial music industry is largely aiming at these days.
