The girl that sings in Lady Antebellum can sing!
Most of the show was disgusting but Lady Antebellum had some good stuff and another band had a nice fiddle lead in.

I don't know why but I can't stand most of the rock chords. I wonder what people were saying 30 years ago about country music?

Hey guys, not to step on any toes but...
Miranda Lambert's bass players name is Aden. He's a great guy and great bass player, who Miranda has chosen to have in her band for years. Does it really matter what he looks like, or should it be more important that he does a great job playing for one of the best female country singers out there right now? Hmmm?

Dave, what you're saying is true, however, "does it really matter what he looks like," apparently matters to him. Would it really hurt some of these dudes to at least try to assimilate to some degree, or is it that important for them to show that they're still a hard core whatever in spite of playing a country gig? What do you look like on your gigs, and why?

Barry, I hear you. I basically thought the same thing when I saw Aden for the first time years ago. But after seeing so many hack musicians that can't play trying to look cool in country music, I started forgiving the ones that actually could play and have a great attitude. I don't think the when in Rome reference works anymore in "country" music these days. With so many younger "country" players wearing chains on their pants, tattoos (I think they call them sleeve tattoos) covering their arms, playing nothing but distorted guitars, there's not much of the old country look and vibe anymore. It amazes me that I could be in a band in Nashville working with musicians that couldn't even get close to playing a song like Big City or other standard songs. Pitiful, if you ask me.
But, I do know many younger players that dress in the fashion that I just mentioned that are very serious about their playing and are great musicians, just not what I consider to be "country". Although, if what's on the charts is considered country, then they are just as country as any of the rest of us.
By the way, I wear Levi's blue jeans (the cheap kind) and a T-shirt for most all my shows for the last 5 years. I used to wear Hawaiian shirts for awhile as well. No tattoos or piercings for me either.

Aden is a seasoned player. He can play upright or electric as good as anyone I've played with. A real pro when it comes to his music. I've toured with him in several projects. He does his homework and plays exactly what he's hired to do.
He was born with amazing red hair that has always defined him. I've seen him when it was super short and he still stands out.
I'm just guessing but when ML hired him, they took his natural hair to a new level. He's always in the center camera shot behind ML.
I think it's genius.

True again, Chris. Aden and Travis Barker for example, are accomplished players, otherwise they wouldn't be where they are, looks aside.

It does if you look at the stars, just not the players. Imagine Miranda, Jewell, or even McGraw showing up with a look like Adens! There appears to be somewhat of a double standard going on here.

I like that Aden guy,I long time ago a friend of mine dragged me to a Sun. jam session at a local country club,I was wearing a pair of very bright yellow balloon workout pants that looked like pajamas,The host band was from Georgia and the guitar player was barely old enough to be in the club and knew zero about playing the guitar.The girl singer asked if there were any jammers in the room,I said I brought my pick and held it up it was also bright yellow,she said Oh great! and brought me up the kid guitar player was walkin me thru how to work a Les Paul,before he left the stage the girl told him not to go too far,She called a song that I'd never played but I had heard it and once again she said oh great!I played every lick known to man and the poor guitar player looked at the girl and said can I go now?The girl singer said OMG!You're incredible I put down the guitar and walked off the stage and told her "Don't ever judge people by how they look"

You know...it's called ENTERTAINMENT. Every musician from history has tried to be different and as attention getting as possible. Is a mohalk any more weird than wearing sequins all over your coat? Please. The point is to entertain. And I'm sure a mohawk wearing bass player in a country band is as entertaining as hell.

Can anyone really see a difference?

I guess with the Artist barely able to afford decent salaries with the income they have from all the sold out concerts, who could expect them to pay for clean clothes and have his band actually look professional ??.I will agree it's not what one looks like that makes one sound better..That is on the radio..But when my garbage collector is dressed better than a musician on National TV thats funny...

Hi Barry, that's a good point you made about the artists staying close to the country look. I'll give you that one, and many more I'm sure.
I hope to visit with you next time I'm in your area. It's been too darn long.
