Heard from my old friend, Guitarist-Dale Norris

Post by Billy Tonnesen »

Got a call from my dear friend Dale Norris in Carthage, Missour. Dale was big in So.Calif. music scene starting in the 50's. He was part of the "Champs" musical group when they hit it big with "Tequila". Dale is a fine Guitarist and we played with several groups together at differen't times. 43 years ago he was Best Man at my Wedding.
Dale moved back to Missouri a few years ago and is still active in playing music.

Hey Billy, I go back a long way with Dale too. I followed him into the Swizzle Stik in Huntington Beach around 1968 or '69 and again into the same club in '76. Dale was a very smooth jazzy player who could also burn it up when he wanted. Some of the old guys like Glen Campbell & Jerry Cole say they were part of the Champs but if you see the photo on the old Champs LP which had Tequila on it, Dale's in the photo, not them. Johnny McKnight gave me Dale's phone number a couple of years ago but I've never called him. Thanks for posting this, I think I'll get up with ol' Norris this weekend....JH in Va.
Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!!
