Squire Classic Vibe made in India as good as made in China?

Sorry, not sure where this should go, another forum?

I was about to purchase a squire classic vibe 60's long distance when the guy mentioned it was made in India. I was pretty sure the good ones were made in China, should I stay away and pay $100 extra for a new one?

I've heard great things about the CV Squires, but did not know there was a made in India version. I'd recommend posting over at Harmony Central, you will most likely learn all there is to know about the CV line.

Personally, I haven't found anything "good" made in China. My opinion, of course.

Companies move production to these countries, China, India, Thailand, Vietnam etc. to take advantage of the Child Labor.

The Apple iPhone factory over there employs over 300,000 in one factory. I should add it is a Subcontractor who operates the factory so that Apple can keep everything at arms length.

Think things out for yourself.

Hmmm... so you are saying I should not buy a guitar at all since I can't afford American? Or does someone have an extra guitar they can donate to me to save one of these poor laborers?

I'm not saying that at all, people in other lands need a job too, they deserve to have a life like everybody else, all I am saying is be informed and make your own choice accordingly.

Ron is not correct.

My SSH "vm" fender squier had a ticket on it that it was made IN MADRAS INDIA, by "Harmony Instruments LTD".

Note the Photoshopped Logo and the razor wire...

I have NEVER found an axe as well made for the price.

One note.

What they called Indian Cedar is actually Neem Wood. Neem is a rather heavy wood closer to hemlock than cedar. The neck as far as I could tell was mirror finished maple, lightly figured.

The neck and guitar were perfectly finished, NO fret edges sticking out and the stacked DD pickups and electonics were as good as I've heard. I refixed the input and epoxied it in. Not much different from "real tele" things.

These brand new squiers I can't testify to, but the one SSH VM TS that I bought about three years ago had the factory inspection tag on it.

I bet no illegal immigrants worked on it..

They do still use a manufacturing plant in India and Indonesia for making the Vintage Modified series and some of the '50s & '60s Vibe Squiers. I don't know if it's the same Indian factory that made the Squier II back in the late '80s.

Fender has manufacturing in USA, Mexico, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China, Indonesia, and India.

The Classic Vibe Telecasters (CV50) are Crafted in CHINA...that's what is say's on the Headstock.

Here's mine with the Hipshot I just installed. Nice guitar, very nice playing guitar. Other than a few basic improvements such as rewiring the control plate, cutting down the saddle screws and adding a set of 52RI pups that I had ( stock pups were fine ) this guitar was basically gig ready right out of the cardboard box ! Frets dressed properly,straight neck, fine feel and easy to set-up. Overall quality is very good, no complaints.

I was not going to drill any holes in my other guitars for the Hipshot ( two small holes ) so this one works well...

Another good Squire is the 'bucker equipped '51' model. No longer produced, and the earliest ones are preferred having first been made in Taiwan(?) then China(?).
