More from the Aussie jukebox

There's always new old stuff coming in and I noticed some new selections in the Hawaii section. Most everything has steel in the Hawaiian selections - www.jukebox.au.nu

Alf Barrie - Lei Of Stars is sounding good
The two All-Star Hawaiian Band LPs are available
A new one by Lani McIntire
Bill Wolfgramme has Jules Ah See (if I remember right... if not, then enjoy the album cover!)
...to name a few in just one section.

Question about the Alf Barrie album "Lei of Stars" if anyone knows, sounds like he's playing Pedal Steel. Did he "convert" at some point for this album? Or is this non-pedal playing? Or a mix? It's a great album, and his playing on the 60's stuff with Les Adams is really amazing. Just wondering in General about Alf Barrie. Thanks!

I don't know if you have seen the liner notes.

Here they are. He makes no mention of pedals, but??

Says he first saw a steel at the age of 20 in 1957 and got a lap steel in 1958. I think the LP is from 1969?

Maybe the best version of "That's The Hawaiian In Me" I ever heard.

Anywhere I can hear it online? the OP is 9 years old and times out for me...

My first time hearing of him. If he plays pedal steel Hawaiian, late 60s, he'd be the down under version of Basil H!

Try the above link. You may have to fumble around with it to hear individual songs.

Fine instrumental version of "Maui Girl" too.
