I seemed to have picked up some virus/worm...so I purchased malwarebytes (which I have on other computers & works well).......
Now, I cannot open it and other programs & apps....I cannot open internet explorer but I can seem to open AOL sporadically.....
The messages that pop up are the phony virus protection scams......whatever I try to open (including malwarebytes) says that it cannot be executed because it is infected...
How can I get into malwarebytes and get it running?

There was one of those false virus type scams that one of my clients got infected with. I couldn't load Malwarebytes on that particular one as Malwarebytes wanted to access their site and update and the scam was blocking it's access. I worked off-line with Wiz on this one and sadly the final outcome was that I had to reformat and reinstall.

The safe mode worked and I was able to access malwarebytes.....got rid of 50 infections and almost everything is running fine......
Thanks Mitch....much appreciated....
Jack, I'm glad I wasn't that far gone....
One remaining problem....I cannot access internet explorer.....maybe I'll post a separate thread for that....
