I agree 100% about Paul and I too extend my appreciation to him. However, we should also thank the other pros like William Litaker,Joe Barcus, etc... that are so good about posting their videos here for others to learn from. This is a good place to get a wealth of steel guitar knowledge from different players. My thanks to all of you. :)

Paul,

Your patience with handling the odd thread detractor is simply a testament to your true professionalism and tact as a person. Success is often a result of possessing many different skills, and you are great proof of that. For this reason alone you are an example for all of us. Your incredible skill on the instrument cannot be overstated, but your people skills deserve credit as well. We are indeed lucky to have you among us here.

Great meeting you in Dallas. Looking forward to seeing you again some time soon.

I'll second that Chris. Paul doesn't have to come on here and get engaged in differing opinions that lead to controversy. He does it because he wants to help us. One small bit of information he offered here totally changed the way that I approached steel guitar. If you have never met him I will tell you flat out that he is the epitome of class and always approachable. He was the one that brought steel into another technical realm for a new generation. His achievement will be felt by following generations of steel players. I am sorry to embarras you Paul but this is true. A big hardy THANK YOU from this shlep in Buffalo! Bravo.

Paul is very approachable, every I see him after gigs I always ask him how did you do this or that??? Lol, probably sick of me!!!!

But on serious note when paul helps people on here its great and does not deserve to be shot down by certain people.

I was reading a post about tuning when paul put his input down and some of the responses embarassed me, how people can be so rude!

Pauls input is as good as gold, one of the best in the world, who changed the steel guitar sound is helping us !

Jamie, here is exactly where we must follow Paul's example and not take the bait. As tempting as it is to respond with our first instinct, it is important to take the power away from negative influences by only addressing REAL posts from sensible posters and ignoring sarcasm/jealousy/anger/instability. It is much harder, but much more effective, to take the high road.

As Kevin said, Paul is here to help us and share his knowledge; he hardly ever veers from that purpose. Conversely, do we learn anything from Eric's sarcastic post above? No. That's why it shouldn't warrant a response of any kind.

Chris is right.

Gutless sniping for the reason of launching personal attacks at me for an issue that is not your business is like riding an elevator that's only going one way.

Down

Best to get off when you get idea you're not going to go up by pushing the button harder.

I think the "Butt Kissing" floor has an escalator.

I don't think the "Personal Attack" floor does.

The only door opens "out".

b0b?

This is simply stating thanks to paul for sharing his knowledge, and you jump in thinking we talking about you......guilty of something? And I don't kiss butt either.

This post is to thank paul, so if you ain't thanking him post some where else !

Well Jamie, I hope you know I actually was laughing so hard I almost spilled my pop.

I don't take myself that seriously.

I don't know why some people do.

If you do want me to be "serious", I'd have to say that I didn't mean to insult, denigrate, cat-call, or otherwiase abuse Mr Franklin in the post I think you are referring to.

I merely stated that despite delicate tuning adjustments with a cent of so either way MANY TOP STEEL GUITAR CUTS are NOTICEABLY OUT OF TUNE when if comes to the notes played "on the fly". No insult, No hassling, nothing but a possible tongue in cheek reference after YEARS of discussing tuning on the forum without anythig but a positive transfer of knowledge.

Paul Franklin does NOT determine how I tune my guitar nor does he establish the Standard for Pedal Steel Guitar Tuning. If he can't live with that, it ain't my problem.

I took offense ONLY when my health, or lack of it became mentioned and it was taken as an "attack" by me in a poor moment. I didn't realise what he was referring to I guess. My bad, if anything.

Regardless, it sure didn't seem like anything Paul wanted to hear, though the cuts, and the ability to slow them down are available to anybody.. Even his.

I don't know, but I think I've learned, studied and really LIKED more PF licks than most, to put it mildly, and I'll go out TONIGHT, and sell a bunch of them too. A ton of Recycled Pete Drake licks too. I appreciate every one I borrow, and I've PAID for his instruction "Speed Picking" CDs. Money WELL spent.

If you think that I attacked Paul in any way, and harmed him an any way, I apologize.

Both to you, him, The Forum, and Theresa Galbraith.

I'll try my BEST not to do it again.

I don't like to get woken up at 700 in the AM by very many people even if the call is from Nashville...

Now.

Go out, and try to not take all this stuff too seriously.

It'll wreck your health among other things.

It's already ruined my future on the GOO, or backing Shania...

Lighten up a little.

I think Paul's OK.

Really.

:)
