Amazing kids ..Blackberry Blossom

Post by Bill Miller »

....so New Year's Eve we had them wound up on the dance floor and out of the blue a Doc Watson tune popped into my mind. ( ...thought it was Black --something or other) I tried it on tele and it went over really well and I was feeling kind of smug with the effort. But awhile ago I was looking around for the tune on YouTube ( it's Black Mountain Rag) and along with it I found this version of Blackberry Blossom and now I think I may as well just sell my instuments and try embroidery or something. These two kids are just amazing.

All I can say is holy crap! There are another couple of kids on there that just smoke the mandolin as well. I may have to consider using my mandos for decorative purposes only!

That's just normal for blue grass pickers. They START early. Many of them at five or six play like old pro's while a lot of us old geezers are still fighting about the correct way to tune our instrument. YOU BETCHA,DYK?BC.

Apparently these two boys, Harry and Jed Clark get around a bit. Here they perform with the Meyer Bluegrass Band. Check out the bass player, he would fit easily inside his instrument. It's great to see these young people keeping traditional music alive in such fine fashion.

...and in a more recent performance with Road Less Traveled.
