Since he's singing about a steel guitar. Shouldn't there be one on the record instead of a (zither?)?

And why did he dump Annette?

I'm not sure who would be the audience for this stuff. Years ago, a band I was in used to do a kind of exaggerated Las Vegas parody of rock tunes, but only for our own amusement - never took it serious .... 8)

I always wondered what it would sound like to have Gearge Jones sing Purple Haze, but now after the Paul Ankle thing, I guess I can figure it out.

Has anyone heard the famous "Shirt rant" by Anka. I haven't, but have heard it's pretty crazy.

We were just talking about that and the "Buddy Rich Rant". I always liked them. Buddy was right as rain, and googling ANY of those guys on "the bus" will bring a big fat zero...

Just something about him..

Hey, Paul bought them shirts...

Mike,
I think you're confusing Mr. Anka with Frankie Avalon.

Cartwright. Frankie Avalon and Annette worked together on all those movies and were (and still are I understand) close friends. But Annette and Paul Anka were engaged at one time, and broke up before the wedding.

I'm not sure who dumped who though. She might have dumped him.

That zither/mandolin-y thing is supposed to fake you out - they didn't have a steel guitar on hand in the studio, but hey, one weird ethnic instrument is as good as another.

Wow, the "shirt rant" really exposes the real Mr. Anka. I've lost any respect I had for him.

I'm surprised that nobody's mentioned that he's the co-writer of the "new" Michael Jackson song. Don't have much use for Anka myself but you've got to hand it to someone who can keep himself relevant in the game that long...

http://www.popcrunch.com/paul-anka-mich ... co-writer/

"Paul Anka - Who Knew???" Exactly what all the lawyers at Sony are probably saying about now... 8)

Maybe he was the one who was dumped. (the dumpee?) Maybe Annette was the one who broke it off because she saw that side of him.

Ole Paul is spending way too much time in the tanning booth. He looks like a carrot.

The worst part is that his "rant" exposes the fact that he didn't even supply full uniforms for the band just "shirts"!

Maybe he wanted the boys to look just right while he's crooning, "You're Havin' My Baby ..." ;-)
Sorry, Paul, you're still a putz, because, to coin a phrase, "That's just the ----ing way it is."

The boss was right

Post by Ron Whitfield »

That wasn't a rant. That was a boss laying down the law to employees who admitted having blown it repeatedly. He didn't rave, he just laid it out as any boss should when needed. If anything, my respect for the guy has just gone up.
That's just the way it f'n is.
