This is a 6-piece combo (that just won't quit), including steel guitar, vocals, upright bass, drums, guitar, tenor sax and fiddle (from Forumite Joel Glassman). (Hint, since I'm the bandleader there's C6 steel all over this CD.)

Tunes included are:

Lady Be Good
Sugar Moon
My Window Faces the South
Straight, No Chaser (instrumental)
Eating Right Out of Your Hand
Honeysuckle Rose
Old Fashioned Love
Route 66
Wonderful World
Heart of a Clown
Choo Choo Ch'Boogie
Goin' Away Party
Reckon I'm a Texan Till I Die
House of Blue Lights

To hear clips of the songs, please visit the band's website at www.beatswalkin.com and click on the link for "CD Recordings". (Many thanks to Forumite Rebel/Graham for assistance with soundfiles.)

Copies are available by check or money order for $17 (incl. postage), payable to "J.Cohen", sent c/o Irresistible Records, P.O. Box 29733, Elkins Park, PA 19027. I'll also accept PayPal to "Jasaco@aol.com"

I just received a copy of this great new CD. If you are a Western Swing like I am, I can highly recommend adding this to your collection. Jim, of course, does an outstanding job on steel guitar and Wendi on vocals really knocked me out too.

If you like Swing, jazz, big band, or just plain cool steel licks- you owe it to yourself to get this CD! I can't take it out of my player, I just love it. Nice "live in the studio" vibe and really great classic C6 licks from Jim. And some nice Matchbro to boot. Love it, Love it!

Thank you Bob, Herby and Mark. It's great to hear you're enjoying the disc. We sure had a fun time making that one.

For those who live within driving distance of Philly, we're having a CD release party on Saturday, March 16, from 8-11pm at Turtle Studios (where we recorded). It'll be a fun time for sure, and the band will be performing the whole CD live*, so come on out! Email me for specifics.

*which means, of course, that I have to figure out all over again how to play "Straight, No Chaser"!

Jim,
My e-mail is down due to the Comcast transition but I wanted to congratulate you on a great new album. I'd say you truly have acceptable tone mastered.
While I'm here, try to mail me. I can't send but I may be able to receive.

That's it, Cohen. Quit your day job and move to Gnashville. You've been blessed by the master, so there's stopping you now! Image

Hey Buddy, Welcome to the 'Comcast Outcasts' club, my e-mail goes in and out like the waves at the shore. I dread though ever changing to any of those other slower services. I guess I'll just wait it out, like the drought.

Hang tough, Craig

Forumites this album SWINGS!!!! I mean right from the first song where Wendi Bourne belts out "Lady Be Good" to the rockin' "House of Blue Lights" with Chuck Lindsey on vocals, the musical energy never lets up. It makes you want to dance (and I'm no dancer). Best of all it makes you feel good! It's pretty obvious that everybody in the band is having a ball and enjoying themselves. You can just picture dancers doing the jitterbug (if you're as old as I am). Jim really gets to shine all the way through and plays some knocked out steel but this is a band effort and everybody deserves credit for making some really fine music together. I loved it and highly recommend it to everybody! If you've never been into big band swing music, and it's hard to find enough of it to suit me, you'll definitely be a "Beats Walkin" fan after listening to this c.d. My kudos to all.

Jim.....I enjoyed you CD front to back. It's refreshing to hear the "live sound" and experience the enthusiasm and dynamics only a live job can provide. I congratulate you and everyone on the CD for a performance exceptionally well done.

Hey Jim, your CD Bop-a-billy Swing arrived today. Let me first say that I'm not easily impressed, I'm very picky (no pun!)... but if this is what's going on in Philly, watch out, Texas! To be honest I'd kinda forgotten about Western Swing, getting caught in the mire of having to play so much "New" Country, etc. What a breath of fresh air. I love the live recording, like being in a great jazz club. There's that live energy yet everything's still clean and precise, none of the slop you find in some live recordings. Great playing and singing by all involved, a really super recording. I'm jealous! I used to think about moving to Texas but now.....Philly? You can be proud of this CD, Jim, and everyone who played on it or was involved in it's production. (And you should change your motto from "Master of Acceptable Tone" to "Master of Better-Than-Acceptable Tone"! Image Seriously, your tone's great.) Very highly recommended listening!
