Izzy question #2

I love my single coils, but sometimes the noise, when raising the pedal to sustain a note, is hard to take. It seems that lowering the impedance with an Izzy or similar device, would help to keep noise down. Is my thinking flawed. I know from experience the effect on tone, but will it also bring the noise level down dramatically?

I don't think it will take care of your single coil noise problem. That's not what it is designed to do.

OK. I know that it is not a noise gate or such. I also know that single coils themselves are going to pick up a certain amount of noise, but am I wrong to think that an impedance lowering buffer at the guitar will reduce the amount of noise picked up by the cable and anything else between the buffer and the amp?

A pretty lofty claim, but as I remember, it did make a noticeable improvement in the sound quality.
