PSALM 33:2
"Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings."
PSALM 33:3
"Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise."
I just thought I would share. Seems to me, the good Lord was thinking of the steel guitar way back then...

MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, a restored MSA Classic SS, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Also a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored Rose S10, named the "Blue Bird". Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also have a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks, and a showroom condition Sho-Bud Super Pro.

good try Brandon, I think the intent was a harp. but a harp is very close to a steel guitar. David was know for his harp playing.
ShowPro SD10, Mullen RP, Bose S1 Pro, GK MB200, MB500, Bugera T50 Tube amp with SlidgeRig, TC HOF reverb effect.

Here's another good one...
Psalm 144:9 "O Lord I will sing unto you. Upon an instrument of ten strings, I will make melody unto you."
Now you try and tell ME the steel guitar doesn't belong in church!

Modern orchestral harps even have pedals.

I play at church from time to time
and it seems to work well
A friend of mine told me( he is a pastor
who plays steel guitar)once a lady came up and told him he needed to get that ole honky tonk steel guitar and throw it out of church.....
his reply was well you better throw the piano out
first cause it was honky tonk instrument way before
the steel guitar was!!!
she left in a daze hehehehehe

There is one more reference to an instrument of 10 strings: Psalms 92:3.
You need to use the King James translation to get the specific reference to "10 strings" as with all the other references cited.

Robert: It looks as though it only has one raise per string and no lowers...........really outdated.

Don't know about that, but I'd say it's pretty plain that universals weren't real big on HIS list!

Maybe a harp is what it is,
How would you explain this vers,
Psalm 137:2 (New International Version)
There on the poplars
we hung our harps,
Hmmmm, can you see my d10 hanging in a poplar tree.

Why then do most of the sacred players use 12-strings?
And it looks like the Lord said it twice, so we know now he really meant a D10.
