Bob -

This is probably not worth belaboring thus I'll be brief.

Not knowing what to expect, I visited her site and then promptly x-d her out and retreated to the Forum when she supposedly demonstrated breathing technique. It's all wrong! Didn't have the heart to view the rest of the video for fear of cringing in disbelief.

You're absolutely correct - this is what the internet is all about:- A handful of diamonds embedded in a pile of dusty, black coal. She, at best, doesn't begin to approach cubic zirconia. Yet - and sadly - some will hinge upon her every word.

Was it P.T. Barnum who stated that there's a sucker born every day? Most assuredly.

Richard, I do believe it's a parody, although she doesn't really make that clear (or does she?). C'mon, "the piano in my mind"! Or "lessons get more expensive as you get better because they become harder".

Mike,
I'm afraid that it is very real. Reality is always way goofier than parody could ever be. Right now I am listening to NPR and they are talking to some guy named Corneille who is singing this pretentious, autotuned, insipid R&B pop drivel who pronounces his name "Corn-nay". They play 15 seconds of some crap tune and then he talks for 5 minutes about some big problem he survived that gives his music such deep soul.
At least the youtube singing lesson is entertaining and the absurd narcissism of the singer is harmless.

If she was singing for pig manure, she wouldn't even smell bad!

When you can't sing (or even when you can sing, but are screwing up a song for comedic effect), one clip is sufficient.

If you don't think she's for real, google up "Expert Village" and see what passes for expertise on their site.

OK, I've got the scoop on this girl. She's really psychosoprano on youtube, this mirandasings08 is just a joke. The girl actually can sing.

Thanks for clearing that up, Mike - I felt this had to be a parody, but these days I sometimes wonder when I see something like this.

In this light - I think the parody is funny-ha-ha, not funny-weird, which was my earlier conclusion. I imagine it must be pretty hard to make it sound that bad if you can actually sing.

The part that cracked me up was when she said "if you want to hit a high note, you have to raise your eyebrows", or something like that.

I'm still trying to figure out if that guy on Expert Village with 5/4 time is for real, though I think not.

A friend of mine was taught this in her choir last week. Seriously.

There's no shortage of "instructors" at Expert Village who know just enough about their subject to be dangerous. It's like Wikipedia in that it's completely open.

I like the bass guy who explains how to play in the key of Bb7. Or just check out Austin the piano guy explaining how to play a walking bass line.

Right, isn't that same guy with the different time signatures playing in the key of C Jazz? He has a clip of how to play like a jazz trio where he plays the bass line laughably, stabs at some upper register stuff and says "if you feel so inclined, you can beatbox" and he proceeds to spit out the sound of a high-hat. Unbelievable!

Check her version of "Love Shack":
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GVkpTyu ... re=related

The funniest thing is all the comments from people who takes her seriously, like this:

"i'm sorry, u ruin songs. stop with the eyebrow thing. can u hear urself? if u can't, plug ur ears and sing. try to hit all the notes on a scale. sing with a paino and stick to one thing. i don't think ur a pro, u just said that. srry, but it's fricken true"

:whoa:

OK she fooled me ! Pretty good stuff. I think I had an affair with her after a gig when I was on tour with a rock band a while back. She told me something about being singer but I wasn't paying attention.

I'm still not sure-the line of self-awareness for singers is so nebulous it's hard to tell if they know which side of it they're on. I've had a saying for years on this very subject: "The difference between musicians and (usually, but not always girl) singers is that musicians know there's something to know."
