Southern Belle From Nashville , Tennessee---Curly Williams

Post by Roger Shackelton »

Does anyone remember Curly Williams & his Georgia Peach Pickers?

This video is definitely lip synched. That flat top guitar doesn't produce the sound of an electric steel guitar.

Does any remember who played steel guitar for Curly Williams?
I guess this is an example of "Eastern Swing."

Often, the audio is so poor on old film clips that a record track is used on utoob for the film audio.

The steel player is Clyde Harris, whose nickname was "Boots".

Sometime in the mid 40's Curley brought his band for a short while to Southern California. I beleive they played at the "Skylite" in Compton, Ca. I remember meeting "Boots Harris". Also I think the guitar player was named "Herman" something. I beleive they came out to Calif. to record. They were more of a Bob Wills type dance band. Possibly "Boots" was the one who wrote "Roadside Rag" a steel guitar standard instrumental.

I'm a long time Curley Williams fan.

His steel guitarist was, indeed, "Boots Harris."
Boots wrote "Georgia Steel Guitar."

I have some of their 78 rpm records plus the Bear Family CD.
