I'm sure a lot of you also recognized Wade Ray the fiddle player. Wade had his own group in So. Los Angeles during the 50's and early 60's at a club called "Cow Town" on So. Vermont Ave. We all got to enjoy Wade for several years before he headed back East on us. Wade had some of the top musicians in So. Calif. at differen't times. He was "Mr. Smooth"
in his playing and singing.
Leon Rhodes on guitar is the highlight for me. And notice Jack Greene on drums. He later had nine #1 hits, including "Statue of a Fool" and "There Goes My Everything".
Leon came in to John A's here in Nashville on a Sunday night a couple of months ago and sat in with the band. He can still tear it up.

Willie Nelson, Leon, Wade and on drums, that's Jack Green yeah? ..................damn, that's a great clip.
I'm guessing 1965-66?
At the time Willie decided to tour without a band, carrying along only Wade Ray, who had played bass with Willie's Record Men. They picked up other musicians in the towns where they appeared, I guess Wade switched between fiddle and bass, depending on what they found while on tour.
Chet Atkins recorded them wil Willie through December 15-16 in '65 for Willie's second RCA album;
"Country Favorites, Willie Nelson Style" (RCA Victor LSP 3528) 1966.
