Alan Jackson - What A Performance!
My wife and I went with some friends to the FedEx Forum in Memphis on Saturday night to see James Otto, Trace Adkins, and Alan Jackson in concert.
Man, what a show!
I have never seen Robbie Flynn (not sure about the spelling) in person before, but he was superb! I do not know the names of the steel players for Otto or Adkins, but they were good, too.
I noticed that all three steel players were playing Derby brand steel guitars. Was that a coincidence, or is there something to be said about Derby's quality and tone?

It may have been a coincidence, but more likely they just like a well made, good sounding steel that you don't have to wait forever to get."I noticed that all three steel players were playing Derby brand steel guitars. Tay, you were there, what do you think about the tone?

Thank you for the correction, Mark!
Bo, I must say that the tone was very sweet, especially with Robbie Flint on "Remember When" (although Lloyd Green played it on the studio cut), but also with the gentleman who plays for Trace Adkins (I do not know his name). The guy who plays for James Otto was watered-down by loud distortion from the bass and lead guitarists, so I was unable to hear most of his licks.
I wonder if the folks at Derby Steel Guitars are aware of their popularity on the "Good Time Tour"? If so, I am certain that they are proud of their legacy of quality and tone!

Cameras
Mike,
Our friends used their cell
phone cameras, but hundreds of people
were snapping pictures throughout the
show. I took a pair of binoculars
with me (my wife stashed them in her
purse for safe keeping). Altogether,
I do not feel that cameras are going
to be "off-limits" at the show in
Boston. However, it might depend
entirely on the security detail at
your local arena. Regardless, I am
certain that you will enjoy the show!
