Question For Joe Savage

Post by Danny Letz »

Did you let Loessburg play your Zumsteel on the Midwest Country episode 10/11/08? It'll never be the same. Did he leave any good licks in it that you can use later? He may have gotten Texas all over it. It made me wonder about the push pull mystique because it sure sounded like Loessburg sounds on his guitar. (I know, it's all in the hands?)

Danny, he left them all, but he forgot to leave a map!!! It was nice to hear him play. To quote another recent post..."He's pretty good...."

Jim Loessburg is certainly a great player, but Joe doesn't need to learn anything from him or anybody else.

I've said it before, but it's worth repeating. Joe's Perennial Sideman CD us one of the best steel guitar CDs I've ever heard, and I give it my highest possible recommendation.

Wasn't raggin on Joe at all. Watch Midwest Country most ever Saturday I'm not playing. Enjoy Joe and his multi-instrumental abilities, miss Leroy. Jim has played for our West Texas Steel Guitar Assn. several times. He always wows us all and is the most accommidating dude you'll ever meet. We're kind of partial to Miss Dottie too.

This past saturday I was watching Leona Williams singing on the MJ and before the camera showed the Steel you could hear a great sound backing her.. I thought to myself ,she brought another good one with her..I should have known after Joe took the ride...She did not have too,There was one there..Joe sounded great..Leona looked comfortable and sounded great...

Hey Joe Casey I watch Joe Savage all the time on RFD and I have been Steelin a lot of his licks. One of the greatest Steel players I have heard. I would have loved to get him to My Steel Show this Year but maybe next year.

I guess it's a fine time to be weighing in on this but I ran across this thread and realized I had never publicly thanked Joe for the use of his Zum.

Joe, you saved me a bunch of money and headache that would have come if I'd have had to fly with my steel. The Zum sounded and played great, like they all do.

And your playing is fantastic. Mike is right -- you don't need to learn from anybody! I really enjoyed listening to you all and I hope I get to come back someday.

For some reason Time Warner doesn't carry RFD so I have never gotten to see the show we did.

Thanks a million, Joe!

Best,

Jim
