Marty Stuart: New Traditional Country TV Show!

Post by Mark Eaton »

Marty Stuart, one of my favorite country singers and one of the "keepers of the flame" who loves traditional country music, and a man who honors the history of the same, will be hosting a TV show to air in late fall:
Marty Stuart Launches Trad Country TV Show:

Marty Stuart thinks there's room on TV for the style of Country music he remembers from 'The Porter Wagoner Show, Flatt & Scruggs, and, of course, Hee Haw. So Stuart decided to create his own show.

The Marty Stuart Show will begin airing Sunday nights come November on cable's RFD-TV.

Each episode will feature music by Stuart and his Fabulous Superlatives, as well as his wife, Grand Ole Opry star Connie Smith, and guests.

“This show is about authenticity, from the artists who visit us in the studio every week to the people watching at home,” said Stuart, a sideman with Lester Flatt and Johnny Cash before embarking on a successful solo career in the 1980s. ''I want to establish a show that gives a voice and stage to traditional Country music.”

Stuart will host and produce the 30-minute episodes. Grand Ole Opry announcer Eddie Stubbs will be his sidekick. His show will be part of the prime-time lineup with Hee Haw reruns, Postcards from Nebraska, and Music & Motors.

right on...marty is the guy to do this. he respects traditional country and probably is the most knowledgable historian on this subject. he's also a cool, hip dude..great picker and appreciator of 'tone' over 'flash'.

Thank heavens for torrent file downloads as we'll NEVER get this show in Canada thanks to the cable overlords who control what channels we can watch.

His work on the final Porter Wagoner CD justifies his ability to do well on a show of trad country music. About bloody time!
I hope he plays Clarence White's guitar on the show.

I just noticed that Roger Light started a thread about this as well a couple days ago. Sorry Roger, didn't mean to trump you!

Well this is great news.
Marty can do it if anybody can.

One thing folks if'n
you aren't tuning in REGULARLY
and buy'n the products sold in the ADS,
don't blame him or the network if'n
the show goes away all too soon.

I won't be able to watch,
but would if I could.
DLD, Chili farmer. Plus bananas and papaya too.

Real happiness has no strings attached.
But pedal steels have many!
