They're gettin' younger every day

Post by David Doggett »

Here's 8-year-old Tallan Latz playing the blues: Red Rooster.

And here's an article about him: Blues Kid.

No matter how good he is for an 8-year-old, at this point, he seems more like a trained monkey. Many child prodigies burn out early. But if he keeps it up, who knows? I predict he will eventually discover other genres.

Let's hope he discovers steel guitar, soon!

This all went down at my Rodeo Bar gig on Friday night, in between sets. I stayed onstage to back this 8 year old kid, Yuto, playing Crossroads and Ozzy Osborne stuff. Man, when I was 8 years of age, I played for hours every day, but I'm not sure I ever made any kind of music.

Did you see Yuto Miyazawa, also aged 8 years, on Conan O'Brien's show a couple of weeks ago? He sang Clossloads, and it was especially cool for those of us who learned every note of Eric Clapton's solo 40 years ago. He's on YouTube.

Last night on a regular monthly jazz gig, we had a sit-in. A 13 year old jazz violinist from New York.
He was very good.... shocking, actually.

He plays guitar better, ah Hell, he even speaks English better than I do!

Don'tcha just hate it when their guitar is bigger than they are?!

Cool to see GE and Barry with mile wide grins.

But keep a look over your shoulder's Yuto and Tallan!
