Dolly Parton concert

Post by Brian Pelky »

I just saw Dolly for the first time last night in Portland, OR. WOW!! I've always been a Dolly fan, but I had never seen her love....what an ENTERTAINER!! Of course, the hits....but the stories and rapport with the audience. And I didn't know she was a multi-instrumentalist, either. Excellent concert!

Music hath the charm to soothe a savage beast, but I'd try a 10mm first.

The only songs I like that she did were 'Love Is Like A Butterfly' and 'Two Doors Down'.

Leslie -

If ya get a chance, give a listen to "Old Flames Can't Hold A Candle To You". It just might flip your switch.

Respectfully,

Richard

"Different strokes for different folks"...."variety is the spice of life"..."everyone is entitled to their own opinion" - insert your favorite saying.

My opinion is that image, appearance, and voice aside - I consider her to be one of America's great songwriters.

I can remember our good buddy Jerry Garcia saying in an interview many years ago that some of Dolly's songs would always bring a tear to his eye, and he was a fan - and I still feel the same when when I hear, for example, "Coat Of Many Colors."

I love Dolly's music and the guy who got me started on steel guitar plays at her themepark, Dollywood, which is my favorite themepark. Dolly's one of my favorite singers. I've never seen her live in concert, but I'd love to. I think Dolly's an amazing singer/songwriter/instrumentalist.

Yes, I agree that Dolly is a good songwriter. But I could never get used to her high voice.

You must not have heard her last few CDs, especially the soulful bluegrass releases, where she outdid and virtually reinvented herself.
Her cover of Shine is stunning. I saw her do it on Letterman(?) a few years back, and (while poured into a red sequined body suit, God she's gorgeous!) blew me away.

Got to be my favorite single person artist today.
And, I couldn't stand her with Wagoner. Glad she's not heavy with the vibrato now.

I love Dolly! You've got to be hearing and sight impaired, but especially deaf not to recognize her talent.

Every steel player should go see Dolly Parton live this year.
