Could have been Billy Armstrong in the 50's. What a terrific fiddle player. Later on he held sway at the Western Corral in North Long beach with a super organized Western Swing Band. Bobby Hines played steel guitar.

Leo, I think that Clarke Rohn probably did at least four years in that place and I was probably there for the last 2 1/2 years of that stint. When I first went there he was still using the old electronic drums which was OK but didn't have a waltz beat as I recall. Later we added real drummers including John Stevens & Jerry Raney. What I liked the best was working with Gino Ciriano on trumpet and Hank Cochram on fiddle & sax. We had some nice western swing things worked up........JH in Va.

"Ain't nowhere to brag about as I recall"....that's a strange point of view as I thought it was! We had full houses six nights a week, no fights, a very friendly atmosphere, good bartenders, friendly customers (especially the ladies) and an easy laid back gig...I wouldn't mind returning to those days at all.

10-4 on that Mike. I remember the Country Comfort was on one corner and the DJ was on the other with just a street separating them. Those were great old days for sure! I remember at one time we had Danny Michaels band doing the Sunday afternoon & Monday night slot. He always had great steelers including Buddy Merrill and Al Vescovo among others.....JH in Va.

Country Comfort... I could never remember the name of that place. I worked there a bunch with Duke Davis.
Thanks, Mike.
I did a few nights at DJ's as well.

Hey Jerry ,before that was called " Country Comfort " it was Sheri's " Can Can ", and that's where I first met Jerry Cole. He was playing with the sax player " Joe Houston ". Leo J.Eiffert,Jr.
