Reunion jam for SoCal musicians
Reunion jam, pig roast, etc.
I've been asked by my old friend Amil Presson to post this. Amil says he will host a get together for all musicians he has worked with in the last 45 years or so. The event will be held at the Winchester arena club in Winchester CA on Sept. 21st and 22nd. Everyone is welcome to attend. I don't believe there is a start or finish time for this event, just two days of fun, picking, eating, and whatever.
Amil's phone number is (951) 928-1519. He'll fill anyone in on the particulars. I wish I could attend.

Jim Bob, I'm there!!! I played a lot of fun and educational dates early in my steel career with Amil, he's a great guy and I wish he was playing out more. Is he gigging at the Winchester Inn by any chance?

Hey Jim Bob, that's one event I'd really like to make but unfortunately my vacation this year is going to be taken up by Scotty's Convention and then on the Niagra Falls. I'd love to pick some with ol' Amil again as I don't get to pick with many these days who are "older than me" but Amil is. Tell him hey for me and thanks for the phone number, I'll give him a call sometime down the line.......JH in Va.
Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!!

Man,I hope the Mississippi River don't over flow into St.Louis,Missouri. I would hate to see or hear that the Steel Guitar Convention is gone and that the Hall Of Fame is wiped away. Keep them prayers coming for them folks that God Bless them with healing with faith. And Jerry,it would be cool if we could move Amil's two days into one. Leo J.Eiffert,jr.

I have a few more details about the Amil Presson Reunion Jam. Or, as Amil calls it, the Beans, Taters & Cornbread Tour.
First, the intent is to gather as many former band members who worked with the great singer/lead guitarist/songwriter/bandleader Amil Presson as possible, but this event is open to anyone who enjoys good ol' country music, whether you're a picker, singer or listener. Just come on out!
The weekend is all about catching up with friends, reminiscing, picking, grinning, and tons of songs by Ray Price, Webb Pierce, Faron Young, Del Reeves, George Jones, Gene Watson, Hank Williams, Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, etc.
It starts about noon on Sat., Sept. 20, and goes to whenever on Sun., Sept. 21.
It'll be held at the Winchester Wild West Arena. I don't have an exact address, but Winchester is off the 74 East, just a few miles west of Hemet, CA. Here's directions, but do check your map to make sure I have this right:
From the 215 from Perris and other points north, take 74 E towards Hemet;
turn right/south on Winchester Rd. (Hwy 79);
turn Right on 9th street
the arena is 1 mile out, on the right hand side
From the 215 from Murrieta and points south, take the Newport Rd exit, heading east;
it turns into Domenigoni Parkway;
turn left/north on Hwy 79/Winchester Rd.;
turn left at 9th St;
the arena is 1 mile out, on the right hand side
If you come in via RV or trailer, there's free dry camping onsite, or hookups for $50 for the weekend.
Hemet and Sun City have a lot of relatively inexpensive motels if you need lodging. The best info I could find was googling: lodging in hemet, california
The stage is outdoors (I'm hoping there's shade!). PA provided. Not sure if there's a drum set and backline of amps, I'll check on that.
The Beans, Taters and Cornbread are provided free. No host full bar at the arena.
If you have further questions, please contact Amil directly: 951-928-1519.
Feel free to copy and paste this into an email and pass along to anyone who appreciates classic country.

Check with Amil to see who has RSVP'ed, Leo.
Emphasize to anyone interested that it's basically a classic country jam for old timers like you and me, Leo...or even any youngun's who like the good ol' stuff! Knowing Amil, or having played with him, is NOT a hard and fast rule by any means!!!
Y'all come.

Update and bump:
Bring your own gear, pickers, Amil says there won't be a house drum set or back line of amps. I assume there'll be a PA, forgot to ask about that. Bring your mic, stand and cord to be on the safe side.
Still on for both days, see y'all there!

Like Leo said, this was a fun, friendly get-together of some of SoCal's top country pickers. Some are living legends! Leo forgot to mention I saved the day by playing bass all day Saturday. Do I play bass? No! Did I do OK? That's what the band said, even the drummer! I'm finally Paul McCartney!
I hope we can do something like this on a more regular basis, and I'm already working on some ideas, so stay tuned.

Leo,
The Saturday roster was:
Sonny Ray on drums, me on bass, Amil on geetar, Jerry Stevens on steel...sitins were Uncle Pete; Lonnie Duckworth; some amateur guy but did perty good; Lauralee Faricelli on vocals with strangely shifting key centers! Think that was it.
