Just got home. How I made it in one piece I'll never know. Image (five cups of coffee and a Django Reinhardt boxed set helped).

I have many shaky hand-held videos that I'll be posting over the next week. Shaky video but outstanding performances.

More later.

I enjoyed hearing Chuck Lettes play and chatting with him afterward-good to see some younger people in attendance-I remember those early years of the convention when Doug Smith and I were the only ones in attendance not old enough to join AARP Image

I thank Gerald for backing me up as usual.
I made a lot of mistakes, but we had fun anyway.

Bill and I had a blast during his set, as you can see in the picture.

Don't let him fool you, he played great.

"Don't let him fool you, he played great."

I'll drink to that, first time I'd heard Bill Creller play and he sounded really great.

Thanks to Gerald, Barb and Chris Kennison and apologies for handing out the chord sheet for the wrong version of 'Stardust'. I played one version while I handed out sheets for another version...I live and learn...

We made it through 'Stardust' just fine Kay.

Kay was fun to play with and hang out with!

Here's a shot of Kay's set with forumite Chris Kennison (seldomfed) on bass.

Gary,

The guitar in the pic is made by Bob Littleton of West Coast Steel. Yes, the strings do go through the body at the bridge end of the instrument.

I'm almost caught up on sleep! What a great time this year - as always.

Kay - glad you picked a country song for your encore - I can play those on bass without charts Image

I thought everyone's playing had improved since last year. Without a doubt it seemed that everyone was more relaxed on stage this year and all played some fine sets. The entire weekend was really mellow for some reason. I liked it.

Thanks to all in HSGA for their hard work to make this thing happen. I'm looking forward to HSGA in Honolulu in April!

Aloha,
Chris

My second Joliet and I am also of the opinion that it was better ...more great performances and great players. More than anything else, it was the atmosphere of sharing and non-commercialism. And there is no place better to improve and learn than with peers and super-peers (just coined a new word into the English language).

I also enjoyed the laid back jam sessions, particularly on the last evening with the superb dobro player whose name escapes me. Man, I need a dobro for Christmas now.

Some highlights for me: Chuck Lettes Sleepwalking, Mike Scott's Lovelight in the Starlight, Terry Miller's Satin Doll, Bill Creller (sweet playing), Chris Kennison On a Street in Singapore, Gerald on so many great guitar breaks, Ian Ufton's and the other Chuck's fantastic rhythm and lead guitars, Donna Miller's singing in Moonlight in Vermont... I could go on and on with names of so many others whom I hope will forgive me for not remembering them here...you were all great. And the videos will testify to that. It was also great to meet Dick Sanftt, a great artiste and a humbly infectious man.

Chris, you were just fine on HMMITTN, figuring it out though I forgot to tell you which key I was playing it in!

Hi Kay,
That's Doug Smith on the Dobro. Doug really has a nice touch on the Dobro, plus he ran (and provided) the sound system for the show. Doug also twirls a mean lariat.
I look forward to seeing you next year, Kay.

I think Kay is talking about David Kolars, who played some great music on an old National Tricone late Saturday night. Big fun!

Thanks guys. Doug, I had forgotten to mention that your dobro set was something really special. Loved your sound and that of everyone in your set...also Barb's great ukulele backing on so many sets including mine. Seemed like she never needed any chord sheets!
