MSA question

I have a friend with a D-10 MSA classic with a problem I've never seen. This happens only on the C6th neck, not the E9th.With no pedals in use when I pick the 3 & 7 C notes open I have an octave that is in tune. As I slide up the neck the 7th string starts getting more and more sharp until at the 12th fret it is nearly 1/3 of a fret sharp.The first thing I think of is the roller shaft being warped.If it is, it is not noticeable. Am I on the right track or is there something else to look for?

It might be a bad string, or an old one. Strings tend to lose intonation accuracy as they get old. Try changing both strings in question. Also, you probably would have noticed this if it was the case, but make sure the part of the string where it is doubled back and wrapped around itself (to attach the ball-end) does not come up to or past the break point where the speaking part of the string contacts the finger.

Guys thanks for the replys. He just got this guitar a short time back and I do know he has never changed the C6th neck. I will have him give that a try!
