a NEW Phil Baugh album... almost 40 years later

Post by scott murray »

This slipped under my radar for several months, but K-Tel has released an album of 10 Phil Baugh tracks dated 1969, that appear to be all previously unreleased. It also appears to be available only on iTunes... for just $5.99!

Crying Time
Don't Think Twice It's Alright
Flowers on the Wall
Folsom Prison Blues
Here We Go Again
Last Date
Oh Lonesome Me
Release Me
Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town
The Wild Side of Life

I'm guessing these tunes were recorded around the same time as Phil's 'California Guitar' LP from 1969 on Era, perhaps for a follow-up album. Apparently K-Tel took control of Era in the early 70s. A great selection of tunes, and some of the finest country jazz playing I've ever heard. Also cool to see that Phil covered Dylan.

does anyone have any more info about this recording???
