***Arizona Carport Pickers Jam/Big Blow Out***

Post by Fred Justice »

Another GREAT Arizona Carport Pickers Party in the books.
What a successful event it was. Lots and lots of steel guitar music, abundate food and fellowship to the max!!!
Got started about 9:30 A.M. and went till almost dark.
Among the players were, (The back-up band) Denny Sarver (Bass) and Ron Corbin (Drums), many thanks.
(Steel Players) were,
Ray Jenkins
Joe Naylor
Chuck Back
Tom Mossburg
Hap Young
Bill Bailey
Paul Reeves
Charlie Brown
Fred Justice
Steel players that came but didn't set up were,
Matt Proudy
John LeMay
Arlene Seydel
Buddy Rhoads
Ron Whitworth
and a few that didn't make it for reasons unknown.
If I left anyone's name out, you can beat the tar out of me the next time you see me. :D
There is already talk about holding the next one at the ranch just seven miles out of Gold Canyon, (100 feet X 100 feet building), as we have completly out grown Ray's carport.
However it will still be called "The Arizona Carport Pickers Club"
Let us know if you had a good time. :D :D :D

Well Fred said about everything I could think of.I want to personally thak everyone that supported our little event,Dixie said thanks too all also.
Lots of folks think I started this Carport thing and I wish I had, but Fred had one in his barn about 6years ago. He had not retired from his job then and couldn't keep it going as time did not allow it.I missed the great fellowship and music so I had one at my house a few years later and the rest is history.Fred has always been the biggest supporter.Well it's time to move again.Doug Lewis,a rancher down the road from us wants to start having it at his place. Here we will have plenty of parking a camping area and a large covered pole barn,no matter what the weather it will not intefer.I think were really on the grow.More later. Thanks again too all who came and enjoyed.Fred forgot Buddy Rhoads,he also didn,t set up just came to listen

Hello Ray & Fred;
I had a great time & a whole lot of fun getting to visit with some old friends i had not seen in a while.
Ray: Please tell Dixie Thanks for all her hard work
on the food. Thanks for the invite as i enjoyed it very much. The move will be good as the carport was pretty full there.
Fred: It was great to see you again - I think you left out our buddy Joe Naylor - can't forget him!
When's the next one? We want to see all of you guys
& ladies down here in Yuma again for Hap's jam too.
Thanks Much Ron

Arizona Carport Pickers Club

Post by Bill Bailey »

:D
I tried to post this morning and musta hit the wrong button and everything disappeared, anyway I will try again, I got a call from Ray this morning checking on us and was so glad to to hear from him, I thanked him and Dixie for everything, I can't remember when I had so much fun pickin with so many talented pickers and I loved the musical chair thing Fred came up with, I laughed so hard I thought I would pass out. I want to thank the rhythm section with Danny Sarver and Ron Corbin, two great players that really brought us all together, Real Cats and Danny sings great too. I was informed by Ray that I will recieve my official membership card now that I am a new member of the "Arizona Carport Pickers Club"
Thanks to Chuck for the fun day and ride home, the best neighbor a guy could have, Take care and looking forward to the next one,
Bill Bailey

I got some good video. I am burning it onto DVD 16:9. I am not editing it as there might be something edited out that someone wants. It is pure raw footage and will get a copy out to those who requested. If anyone else wants a copy please let me know. I can also make some e-copies available for download if someone wants a copy.

It was great fun watching all those talented pickers.

DVD's going out tomorrow to all that requested.
