Rack and Barrel mechanics help

Post by Rick Abbott »

If you were going to pull the E-F and E-F+ on the 4th string on a single/raise and single/lower shobud crossover how would you set the barrels to accomodate this? The E-F is on pedal one and the E-F+ is on pedal four. F-A-B-C.

Just put the 2 barrels on the same rod and tune away. Only the barrel that is being engaged - pushed tight up against the rack - will be tuned.
That's the beauty of the rack and barrel system.

That's what I was thinking. I wondered if there would be any issues with the fact that the F is a 1/2 step pull farthest away from changer, the C pedal is pulling a full step E to F+.

Rick, that shouldn't be a problem at all. Once you get it sorted out and see it in operation you'll discover the beauty and the simplicity of the rack and barrel. You can put as many changes on a rod as you like...including micropulls.
