There is a family Bluegrass band from upstate New York, "The Dorfel's" that come to Florida in the winter. They have all their family playing instruments and singing. Ages run from very young up to 18.

The children are all home schooled and obviously much of the home schooling is learning and practicing their instruments. One of the younger ones started playing Dobro this year.

One side note, the "keep her pregnant" sure applies to this bunch. Seems like every year when they come down either there is a new baby or the wife is expecting. I think they are up to 10 childeren now. The first year they came down they were all living in a small camper, this year they had a big (used) motor home.

Let's just pray that these children, and their talent, are nurtured by the parents, and not exploited.

I love the fact that they did it all while lounging around on the couch with bare feet and sloppy posture. :)

Well, to the best of my lookin' I'm gonna have to throw the flag on those kids. Did you look at those long, slender fingers those kids had. It's not fair that they were born with the proper digits to play stringed instruments that well. It's not fair in the same kind of way that tall black kids with big hands are better than me at basketball. Those of us, like me, who were born with stubby little fingers should have some sort of federal protection against having to compete with their likes. At least I should be allowed to apply for some sort of disability payments on account of I'll never be the musician that they already are.
In any event, great clip. I believe that they might be in, or near Florida, judging by the live oaks and other vegetation.
