I never could afford anything but an old car to get me back and forth to work and on an occasional date back then. This kind of stuff was for rich kids.

MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, a restored MSA Classic SS, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Also a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored Rose S10, named the "Blue Bird". Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also have a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks, and a showroom condition Sho-Bud Super Pro.

In 1959 I had a robin's egg blue 1956 Murcury Turnpike Cruiser rag top . The US didn't get the Turn Pike Cruiser convertible until 1957. 450 cubic inch motor; 400 HP but that was when gasoline was 31 cents per gallon and even that huge motor got 18 MPG. No anti-pollution gizmoes.
From there, when I was 21 years old, 1961, I bought a brand new blue & silver olds 98, 4 dr hard top. If I recall, I paid somewhere around $5,900.00 Cdn. It took $1.16 US$ to buy $1.00 CDN in those days.
What in hell happened?

I had a 57 Chevy rag top, black, not red. It didn't take well to The eastern weather and I sold it in 64.
Bought a 64 Mustang. That took me thru my first child, but the gear train was grinding so I bought a 68 Malibu to get me thru. I have always pretty much had 2 vehicles and the other was usually an English sports car, but that's another story in itself.

'57 Ford Skyliner here, the retractible, Captain Whizbang hardtop which never once faltered whenever I raised or lowered it (often at a red light, just for the drama of it all).
One of the very few to sport a 3-speed stick on the floor (Hurst, of course) hooked up to Ford's 312 V8.
A holy grail rig for this erstwhile 19 year-old. What days they were!
