Why I might like myspace

Post by Ron Whitfield »

I've mostly ignored myspace, but am curious if anyone here uses it as a commercial outlet for product other than music to listen to?

Or, is that prohibited?

Other than music to listen to? What else are you gonna do with music? Eat it?

Oh wait....I see what you mean....use myspace to sell a product other than music.
Well,it dosent sell music directly per se.

Seeems like most people trying to do something like that are spammers hawking ringtones and porn sites. Those are products I suppose.

As far as I know, Myspace isnt really intended as a place to sell products in that sense. Its a social networking site and a place where bands can post their music for people to hear and announce upcoming gigs.

You could post a bulletin to the freinds in your network saying you have something to sell, but once again, thats what I would call "soft-spamming" and if it were me recieving those kinds of bulletins/ messages, I would delete that person from my freinds list.

Whatcha sellin, by the way? Anything groovy?

Eat to the beat, eh Joe?!

Thanx for the input, but since posting I've done more homework and found quite a few products and some steel guitar makers with their myspace pages, such as Emmons and Derby, so I guess you can kinda promote them at least.

If my prototype proves worthy, I'm hoping to market a line of super light weight lap and console steels, AND (the real fun) give players the opportunity to design their own steel in most any configuration they can dream up, for a lot less $ than current market prices.

Hope that's groovy enuf for ya!

MySpace was initially a indy band site for promotions. But, wherever the hits go (that's web hits) commercialism follows. MySpace is, or was getting the most web hits in the world.

That sounds really cool. Yes, some products do have their own myspace profiles,
Rains ,Emmons etc. Im glad youre not selling porn or ringtones.!!!

A myspace profile would be a way to drive people to your actual website where they could place orders, etc.

Best of luck.

Thanx again, Joe.
After so much frustration getting a web site up that I'm happy with, I was looking for a viable alternative, but like your suggestion, it'll probably just serve as a promotion vehicle as youtube is sometimes.

However, the porn and ringtones might be added to the long list of options I'll be offering!
I hadn't thot quite that far outta the box.

I have no idea what this thread is about but it gives me the opportunity to publish that I have programmed my own ring tones for my phone, not MP3s, ringtones. :P

I have a MySpace page. It said "Click here to view all of b0b's friends". I clicked it. It said
