Got a new Bobby Flores CD

Post by Bill Miller »

My Bobby Flores ' Just For the Record ' CD came this week. I had an eight hour drive yesterday and that's the only CD I had with me so it basically played over and over all day. In a word, it's awesome.
We hear a lot of lamenting about how country isn't country anymore but this is the real McCoy. Apart from Bobby's own excellent vocals and musicianship his CD's are a round table of some of the best steel players you could wish to hear. In this case no fewer than eight different steelers on fourteen tracks, each with their own sound and style. Tommy Detamore is there...laying down pure gold as usual. Herb Steiner does a great job on 'I'll Find a Way'...it was the first time I'd heard Herb's playing. If I had to pick a favorite track it would have to be ' Just For the Record' with Randy Reinhard on steel. The sound and phrasing on that is so evocative that I almost pulled over on the shoulder of the road for a little crying jag. Beautiful stuff! I hope Bobby will continue to churn out these wonderful projects.

Yes, I got to meet and hear Bobby in San marcos last week. We traded CDs, I got 3 of them, and For the Record is really great. He had Reinhard playing with him and he is awesome. He is nice man and it's easy to see why he is so well liked and respected.
