Most of my favorite musicians are singers -- the ones with subtlety in phrasing, dynamics, timing, and (most of all) feeling.
This is my favorite song of Pavarotti's:

When I watch this I like watching the body language of the string players. I think about what it must take emotionally and physically to sing this, and I like that his handclasp with the conductor and their smiles seem so utterly genuine. They both seem happy.
Also not steel guitar (though it could be) but beautiful

Mine too, and I'm not an opera fan.Susan Alcorn wrote:This is my favorite song of Pavarotti's:
The opening chord (Nes-sun dorma...) is wonderful.
I think Bob Dylan must have heard this somewhere (when he was much older then) and it crept into 'Bob Dylan's Dream' ("While riding on a train going west /
I fell asleep for to take my rest /
I dreamed a dream....")
An enduring theme.

Let no one sleep!... Let no one sleep! Even you, o Princess, in your cold room, watch the stars, that tremble with love and with hope.
But my secret is hidden within me, my name no one shall know... No!...No!... On your mouth I will tell it when the light shines.
And my kiss will dissolve the silence that makes you mine!...
The Chorus: No one will know his name and we must, alas, die.
The Prince: Vanish, o night! Set, stars! At dawn, I will win! I will win! I will win!

And my kiss will dissolve the silence that makes you mine!...
