help speed technique
Am just seeking to answer a quick question concerning speed picking. I want to get a course, but until then, how would this most commonly be picked; and is there a general rule that applies most often?
...strings 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 5, 6, 7, repeat (all on same fret).

There are several good speedpicking instruction out there. Jeff Newman( JEFFRAN MUSIC) is one of the best. Tab and video. Mike Smith has some great speed pickin tapes. Bruce Bouton has some speed pickin' tapes. I am reasonably sure Doug Jernigan has some speed pickin; instruction. The most popular technique is the thumb and finger cross-over. Jody

Jeff Newman told me "use your Thumb and Index or Thumb and Middle, which ever you feel most comfortable with, and stick to your choice".
It does make it simple, you pick the next note with the pick you didn't use for the last note and of course to "cross over" as you move up or down on the strings. Start slow and work up to speed.
