"if you want to talk to me my aim screenname is chickendawg2121"

Something about that auction reminds me of the movie Deliverance.

Trying to give the benefit of the doubt here... considering his lack of language skill, do you think maybe he just hit the "0" key one too many times when he posted it, and just hasn't figured it out yet? I realize language proficiency has nothing to do directly with typing skills, but...

Hey Mike, if he did he did it 2 different times. Later on in the ad he says he really wants 3000 so I think he's dead serious. He's probably about 15 and his Grand Pa died and Grand Ma gave him this amp and said it's really old sonny boy. So he instantly thinks ebay and big money :-)

just a guess :-)

overpriced 400

Post by Ray DeVoe »

I felt I needed to say something to this fellow. He is not even on the same planet. I just dropped him some real info and now if he does not revise his ad, we will all know that he is out to try and (politely put) beat someone to death. I have seen a few players who knew nothing about equipment get taken for some big bucks.

EBay message to seller.:

Just an FYI

There are several of these identical amps on the Steel Guitar Forum for $350 to $400. All are in nice shape. If you find an uninformed purchaser who pays that kind of money, you are really doing someone an injustice as they can only get 400 back out of it. Just letting you know the real world value of your amp. I could easily purchase 8 of those amps for the same money as your asking price for one.

I did a check on the bidding history. The high bidder has a zero feedback and has been a member for betwwen 1 and 2 years. I really need to get a life :( if this is how I spend my off time. I'm gonna go play some steel. Buck Owens time again.

You all are missing the point----go find another one!!

This is quite possibly the only $3000 PV Session 400 in the world. That makes it quite unique and quite valuable.

Jon,
I for one feel like a complete heel. This is an opportunity to own the most valuable Session 400 ever. Well, at least the highest priced!!! We should all follow Mike D's example and cut some slack to the boy that is hocking his pappy's rig.

This is scam all around. If you do a search on Peavey Session 400, you'll see the most expensive one is $500.00. Looks like the old Ebay scam, list and then bid it up with another one of your accounts.

I have a feeling the end is coming very soon. This one is as phony as a 3 dollar bill. Go to the bottom of the auction page and click on "Report this Item". If enough people report this rat eBay might take notice.

I don't think the guy is really doing anything wrong besides being an idiot. He put a price on something, that's it. Whoever bids on it is just as big an idiot as the seller for not doing their homework on the going rate of a Session 400. I have no pity on people who fall for inflated prices. There's no excuse with all the resources available for pricing on the internet.

Who knows? Maybe chickendawg's grandfather was somebody like Jerry Garcia?

If that were the case, then even $30,000 wouldn't be unreasonable.

Cousin or whomever... if it sells, he's going to have to pay all the fees that go with it... not an inexpensive "joke," at all...

RESPONSE

Post by Ray DeVoe »

Well I got a response from the EBay seller. He sure didnt like me challenging the price of the amp.

I would love to post it here , but Its so graphic that I cant. He is just jerking everyone around or is truly ignorant. Sounds like something from a kid on crack or the victim of too much inter-breeding.. Deliverance gets my vote.

Im out of this one.
