Hey Chris, I tried that exact tuning that Don uses but it didn't work for me as I'm the only lead player in my band. If there was another guitarist doing the lower string things it'd be OK but I missed having that low E string handy plus the octave on strings 4 and 6. I think an 8 string guitar might be nice for this stuff. I see some used 7 stringers out there from time to time and maybe I'll go that route first....JH

I set-up my main rig on a 6 string and missed the low root for a few years.
Until, I finally added the 7th string and it all came together!

I am working on an 8 string rig for lap-steel.
It will be the same as the PS-67 but with the root lower ( D - lever function ).
I am still trying to figure out if a "Chromatic" note on the top or a 9th in the middle is the way to go with this project.
The early Jim Day "set-ups" experimented with these two things.
( He also started with a 'D' tuning )
I am trying to find some documentation on the early JD tunings and pedal codedants.

What if Peter Stroud was a SGF member?
Would yo have a question for him?
I am in direct contact with him . . .
As we are trying to build an article about this playing style!
I am already "into-it" !
So, I am biased!
What are the "newbie" questions here?

Thanks,

Hey Dan, on Sheryl Crow's recording and video of "All I Wanna Do" it has pedal steel on it and the video has some guy playing a S-10 ShoBud I believe. Is that Peter? I know I'd like to talk a bit with him to see what he done with it.....JH
