I couldn't agree more on all the chat going on during that show. You'd think Price would have been given a larger portion of the show but that's the ways it goes. It's a show place for new talant. And while I'm at it, lets start giving the staff guys some credit and camera ! The players are what makes it all happen ! IMHO

It appears obvious to me that any "shuffles" or PSG and FIDDLE oriented music is what they always cut out when they do the worthless interviews. I don't have to be hit on the head with a brick to get the message. Think about it, the most fiddle music you hear is in the "bluegrass" element.

Would you pelple get real. Katie Cook does interviews when and where the network says she is to do them. She DOES NOT have any choice in this matter. It is so funny that you people can't understand this. Instead of grumbling and griping you people need to grow up and act like the adults you CLAIM you are.

I tthink that all in all, last Saturday's opry wasn't to bad. However there are a few observations. First of all, I would have to agree with Kenny Dale's comment about cutting out the shuffles and the fiddle and steel. I am listening to the show via the WSM archives. And I heard where the best song that Ray Price did out of his set was not televised! Another thing..Charlie Walker was on during that segment; he sang 'Pick Me Up On Your Way Down"..another great country shuffle. But was it shown? Of course not! Yeah Kenny..I hear wjhat you're saying, my friend! But I did enjoy Marty..as well as "Third Time Out." This show (even with it's weak spots) would have been a show that I would have kept, had I been able to record it while I was out pickin' as I usually am. As for the question about "Sundown In Nashville..Yes..I'm pretty sure that that is the same song that Carl and Perl did in the 60s

I don't think it's a consiracy about steel and fiddle on the Opry. Music happens with or without steel.

Myron if you are going to address me get the spelling of my name right or don't address me at all. My name is JIMMY. You just prooved another of the points I tried to make here. You seem to look at things but not see. You looked at my name but didn't see that it was spelled JIMMY. Learn to not only look but see. It's the same as hearing but not listening. I know I am getting off topic here but I feel I have a right to correct someone who has not spelled my name correctly. I am sorry if this offends anyone but I feel that if someone is going to address me they SHOULD at least make an effort to get my name spelled correctly. I've been looking for that song "Sundown in Nashville" for years. The original version by Carl and Pearl Butler . Does anyone know if it's on any reissues or complilation CD's ?

I think that the actual point that I was trying to make here, is that, it seems to me that if a part of the segment is not shone, it always seems to be the parts where more "traditional opry" performances are done! Yes..I understand that music can happen with or without steel or fiddle. I guess that what really butgs me is the fact that "the whole segment" is not televised! And if you'll notice, whenever CMT doesn't televise a particular week's opry, the line-up will usually have folks like Billy Walker, Jimmy C. Newman..well..you probably get my drift. Maybe they have a logical reason for doing this. But if I were to hazzard a guess, I'd bet it's that they ndon't want to show the older (or more tradional country) performances!

Tom, I think you are right on. I think that they are discriminating against traditional country. Its quite obvious.
