Got Steinar's CD Today, WOW!

Post by Mark White »

I received my copy of Steinars new CD today! To those who have ordered this CD, you're in for a treat. Absolutely beautifully crafted arrangements and tasteful playing from beginning to end. A true joy to listen to. The lap steel.... placed in a musical environment where you wouldn't normally find it and blending perfectly. Steinar plays with such feeling I still have goosebumps. If you haven't ordered a copy do yourself a favor. Outstanding work Steinar, thank you.

Fantastic arrangement of 'In the midnight hour'
Well done Steiner

Thanks for the great music, Steinar. As Kevin mentioned, your recording is a labor of love. I like the "blue" ambience that you create and the various moods of the songs. My favorites include "God Only Knows" and your original, "Northern Lights." Brad Sarno did an excellent job mastering your project, and I like the moody cover of the CD. You really take the lap steel in a new direction.

I too received the CD yesterday. I want to add my review.

run and order this CD. it is really good. artfully created. his instruments sing.
I enjoy the separation and layering of instruments he ultilizes.
Steinar's touch is amazing. it reveals his experience of the instruments he plays. his choice of notes and tones shows his knowledge of musical history.
the different instruments he plays , guitar, bass, lap steel, impresses this listener. with the third listen I was still discovering the artistry of the layering, hearing little surprises with the voicings of the instruments playing along with the melody.
the mastering of this CD is aurally gorgeous. it has been a long time since Ive heard that kind of separation in my stereo speakers.
the songs as they played expanded creating a larger space yet inviting one in to an intimate experience with the artist. and I mean intimate.

I am an artist myself. I am really picky about what I like. moreso musically.
listening to this CD I was moved to create. I wanted to pull. out my lap steel and start recording. I wanted to pull out my oils and paint. for me to be inspired to create is a major stamp of approval.
so thank you Steinar.

all around from cover to cover from track to track a well done artfull effort.
buy this CD you will not be dissapointed on any level.

Big smile here too...mine came yesterday. Although I got to hear clips of songs in progress as we worked on the cover art, having the whole package is really a pleasure. Great effort Steinar...and you pulled it off my friend. It's a fantastic CD.
Cheers, Ron

Listened to it several times today and agree that this is an exceptional album. The songs are great and the musicianship is outstanding. And for us steel players, the playing and tone is to die for.

It's going into heavy rotation on the iPod for sure.

Steinar, you outdid yourself on this one.

Everyone else - buy this CD and support one of our own. I assure you that you will be happy you did.

Boy, this guy does a great job on everything. It makes me want to build a fire in the fireplace, fix dinner and call my gal over to listen to it with me with a nice glass of wine.

Steinar--really wonderful CD. You should be proud of the accomplishment of reinventing yourself. Your programming and arranging skills are top-notch. As I told you, the drum programming is fantastic and very intuitive.

I've gone through a similar process of reinvention and have come to realize that, ultimately, the music comes from within, regardless of what instrument I'm playing. Makes it more fun to pick up the guitar again, though.

I finally got some copies of this CD this week. The first batch sent by Steinar probably got snitched by some post or customs employee with good musical taste ...

I really enjoy this CD. Great songs and excellent tone in those lapsteels. Some of the solos are real 'goosebumpers'.

Högsta betyg!!!

Just getting 'round to listening today. Wonderful CD Steinar. I especially enjoy the way you let the electric guitar and steel textures have their space; notes hang around against the harmony in a beautiful way. You integrate the sound of the steel into the music in an organic way ... that's really, really rare.
