Post by Gerald Ross »

Here is a quick video from the Saturday night luau happy hour.

Terry Miller is the fantastic steel guitarist. Terry wowed everyone at the convention! Image

I play guitar. Forumite Chuck Lettes puts down his steel guitar and sits in on bass, and a newbie to the HSGA and an amazing guitarist- Chuck Wilson on flattop guitar (Chuck is also a forumite).

Enjoy!

Nice! Thanks for posting.

And just what the doctor ordered. I've been working on that tune.

Okay, I have to ask the old question: what were his tunings?

I think he had a flavor of C6 on the back neck and a B11 type on his far neck. I dunno...

Yes I think Terry said c6 and B11
Gerald, thanks for the kind words and including me in the group.

My first time at HSGA and for all those who haven't gone --what a fine group of friendly and talented people with rich history and great stories.

Well worth the trip!! Thanks to all!

Chuck Wilson is already an incredible guitarist. Now he is jumping into the steel world. Give him a little time, he'll be a monster... Image

Here's Chuck on guitar with my uke pal from Indiana Howie Clark backing me up during my main stage set.

Thanks for the info on the tunings. I thought that might be the case. The B11 makes a lot of sense as the bridge is a series of 9th chords.

Thanks for the kind words guys, and many, many thanks to Gerald, Chuck Lettes and Chuck Wilson who did such a great job backing me.
What a real treat it was to see everyone again and to make some new friendships.

This was only my second time to perform(I've been to three shows) and I had a chance to get to know many people a lot better. One would be hard pressed to find a nicer, more helpful and appreciative group of folks.

Someone was inquiring about the tunings I used. The inside neck was A6/7,with E13 on the outside.
Anyway, too many good performances to even begin to hand out all the deserving kudos---you really have to be there to experience it.
A final note: I agree with Jeff---we missed you Dave G.!

Newbie question: When you switched necks I didn't see you flip any switches--were both pickups on at the same time?

True, Jeff Strouse was the videographer of the Jersey Bounce clip. Also the Beyond The Reef clip.

Thanks Jeff!

Hey Jeff, I wondered what you were up to out there with that little camera---thanks for being so patient.
As I mentioned earlier, people like Jeff Strouse, Gerald and so many others were there not only to give stellar performances but to help out in any way they could.

By the way Lynn, Jeff was correct, I didn't flip the selector switch going from neck to neck--- I keep forgetting to reset it.( At my age it's tough enough to remember which song I'm playing)!
