On July 9th, Mel played the Opry in Nashville.
Paul Franklin was subbing for Tommy White. Paul had already agreed to come to Branson and play the 2 DAY Super event. It was the first time since Las Vegas in 1980 that I had the opportunity to be on the same stage as my HERO, Paul Franklin.
We had a little time between his spots to talk. Let me tell how honored we are here at the OzarkSGA to have Paul coming to show. I have been trying to get a SUPER PLAYER for some time now( now I am not saying that we haven't had a few at our shows before), but to get a guy with Paul's credentials is indeed a feather in our cap's at the OzarkSGA.
If you haven't already made your reservations for the Saturday show, go to OzarkSteelGuitar.com and visit our website, it has all of the the info about the 2 day event.
Now some more about Saturday. It is a small venue with limited seating and Paul and the rest of the players will seem like you can reach out and touch them, that is the reason for the reservations only for the Saturday show.
All of the gang at the OzarkSGA are looking forward to, two days of great and exciting music, we hope to see all of you in Branson July 28th and 29th, did I happen to mention that we have one of the top bands in the world backing all of these great players, THE BRANSON CONNECTION BAND, they are simply incredible,

I know Paul Franklin has always been one of my favorite steel players and I am looking forward to hearing him play without having to stand way in the back of the room. No matter how early I try to find a seat, I never seem to get there early enough. It will be great to experience his playing on Saturday and Sunday in Branson. Thanks Terry, and we are looking forward to hearing you play again as well!

I am certainly looking forward to getting to hear and see Paul. He is as major league as it gets and his performance alone would be worth the price of admission plus a bundle. Please come out and support this show so we can continue to have this type of a show in the future. I feel so very privileged to get to be a part of it this year. Bill, I got the flyers in the local music stores.

Branson Show
I let Terry Bethel know that I will be unable to attend the Branson this year. Two reasons. One-I'm not completely finished with putting this years International Steel Guitar Convention together yet and that is what is really on my mind just now and will last until July 29th. Two - I never touch my steel guitar from one show to the next so it will be a long time since I played my guitar with no possible way to rehearse any between now and the show. Of course, I remember what I am supposed to play but my "Chops" will be way done and it will be noticable to the musicians and also to the audience. Terry understands that and gracefully allowed me to skip this year. Scotty

With the help of some good members, the brochures will be going out this afternoon to the motel check in desks, lodges, campgrounds, etc. in the Branson and surrounding areas for the sunday show. Thanks to all who have helped get the earlier ones out in other areas, we appreciate it !!. "All roads lead to Branson" -

Paul Franklin
I talked to Paul this morning (July 27th), and he said he was looking forward to coming to Branson and playing our Super Event on July 28th and 29th.
I told him how excited we were to have him here at our show.
On the Saturday show, I have been asked by Paul to play a set with him, against my better judgment I said I would and he promised not to play any 64th notes on the uptempo songs. I think he fibbed a little. I haven't got to play on the same stage with Paul since Las Vegas in 1980, We were both very young at the time. I have gotten older but he is still so young, I wonder why that is?????
We still have a few tickets available for the Saturday show, so if you want to see Paul up close and burnin' that left footed, screchin' thing we call a steel guitar (of course we dearly love the machine), go to our website ozarksteelguitar.com for details and a map of how to get to the Community center or contact Hank Ruf, at 417-334-4462.
Hope to see everybody there,
Terry Bethel
