TX: New exciting playing gig for me

Post by Johnny Cox »

I have had a dream to play with one of my oldest and dearest friends here in Texas for nearly 30 years. Well it looks as though that may just happen very soon. A couple details to be worked out yet but it will be a great band and a great honor for me. This is someone that anyone in Texas is all to familiar with but I won't mention any names yet. I'll update as things become more official. :D 8)

You got a gig with Kinky??
Lee, from South Texas - Down On The Rio Grande

There are only two options as I see it.
Either I'm right, or there is a sinister conspiracy to conceal the fact that I'm right.

Just don't let it interfere with building those fantastic MSA's. :D

MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, a restored MSA Classic SS, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Also a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored Rose S10, named the "Blue Bird". Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also have a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks, and a showroom condition Sho-Bud Super Pro.

I'll still be at MSA as long as the parts keep flowing. This gig will take me all over west and central Texas. Not a bad gig, bus and everything. Good ole country and western swing, a 40 or 50 year family traditioin.

Well I tried to get the Asleep at the wheel gig once and did'nt get past the secretary. It's not Johnny Bush though he and I have had some great times together. I better keep my mouth shut til it's official.

Johnny, Looks like AATW lived up to their name. If they passed on you, someone was asleep at the wheel.

I would guess Jody Nix or maybe someone like Leon Rausch. One thing for sure. It will be a strong band with Johnny Cox playing steel.
