It's "MULLEN"!... No "S"!

It's "MULLEN"!... No "S"!

Post by Brint Hannay »

Posting this as a new topic because a) it wouldn't be fair to pick on any one person, and b) this is a strangely common mistake. (Spelling it with an i instead of an e is, too.) Folks, it's written quite clearly in the logo right on the front of the guitar.

I guess I'm sensitive to this because if I had a dollar for every time someone misspelled or mispronounced my name (first and/or last) in my life I could buy several G2s!

Brint, can I jump on here and add that it's " SESSION" 400, not "SESSIONS" 400!

Thanks........that made me feel better.

When they were popular... They were often referred to as PROFLEX in stead of PROFEX.

That used to drive me nuts!

My name

Post by Jim Saunders »

My name is SaUnders, not Sanders. But, it's often mistaken. When I pick up my dry cleaning, pictures, prescriptions, etc, they often fumble around looking until I suggest SaUnders. So, yes, it is annoying to have your name screwed up, but, it's just going to happen. BTW, I own a Mullen and I love it without the S.
Tim, I have a buddy who calls the Profex, Proplex.

yup, it always amazes me that someone can plop 3-5K on a guitar, and not even know the name.

Mullen is the worst.

williams

Post by Finis Spier »

the williams was a well built guitar but lacked some inovations like split tuning that lets you raise and lower strings at the same time and i had trouble keeping it in tune especially the sixth string i dont know what the deal is with that sixth string i have had the same problem with other guitars its just hard to get the harmonics right maby some one can explain this

I don't care how you spell it ( but I'm sure Del Does ) it is the best sounding, easiest playing guitars I've ever played and I now own two of them! (SD-10 3&5 and S-10 3&4) And Mullen company is just great to deal with as well.

Oh, the variations on my name have been hilarious over the years... "Darchetti" "Duchett" "Dooshet"... Dale Sellers nicknamed me "Ducksh--"... he calls me "Duck" all the time...

Sorry for the hijack...

Allen, actually, (I'll pretend you didn't say "Mullen this over" :) ) I pondered where to post this, and decided to put it here because The most recent instance was a post in this section that caused me to (finally) speak up on the subject, and because this is where the "problem" is most severe--this is where people that OWN one with the name written on it are spelling it wrong!

Brint,

In your message I couldn't really see where you were actually selling anything other than the fact that people don't know how to properly spell Mullen and Brint. If you were trying to sell that concept, well, OK. Please accept my apology. I still think your post should have been in the Pedal Steel section, where pedals steels and terminolgy are discussed.

"Mullen it over" was simply meant to be a play on the phrase "mulling it over" where the word "mull" means to consider or to ponder. Sorry to offend you, no harm intended.

Allen, please note the smiley face in my previous post! No offense taken at anything whatsoever! I was acknowledging your play on words.

And no, I'm not selling anything. This thread could be moved and it'd be fine with me. I just wanted the current "offender" (I use the word lightly) to see it, and figured he'd be looking in this section.
