Joey,

I went to your additional pictures of that "59" D8. In a word, "SPECTACTULAR".

You put in the effort to get it, so good on you, eh.

Caretake it in good stead. That's a prize winner. Image TX

Now ... 'bout them fish.

As you know, I grew up down there ... and frankly the bait we usta use was bigger than those little thangs Image ... Just jokin' ... nice Bass

Hey ... were you down there when Pirate's World was still open ... I was kinda young, but would sneak out and ride down with my older brother .... rides, concerts ... some "wavy midnites" for sure ...

They're just there for the riddle . .
But as I recall, they were good on the griddle too . .

Speaking of amps to use with a Stringmaster, has anybody tried the new Fender Vibroverb with the 15" speaker?
For the price the're asking (equivalent of 2 Stringmasters) it should sound incredible. I'm just a little bit skeptical when it comes to new production tube amps . .

It closed in '75.

I saw Iron Butterfly, David Bowie, Jethro Tull, Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, Grand Funk, Steely Dan and Johnny Winter ... there in the early '70s.

The Hollywood Sportatorium was big back then too ... for concerts.

Once the "old man" caught me sneakin' out ... well those days ended Image

Of course then ... a few years later, I discovered the Mai Kai ... phewww ... alot of good times in Broward Co. Image

THe '57 Twin reissue is a great sounding lap steel amp. Fat, Fat, Fat! Too much money for me (and not better sounding than my THD BiValve), but this thing is great!

I see you have Brad Pitt playing the part
of The , fun loving ! flamboyant ! lovable ! all-round
nice guy ! Bob ! of the "North West Country Boys"
in you movie .

That would have Mr. Pitt making believe that he is a steel
player !! Talk about a parallel worlds ! that's Ironic !!!!! Wow !

It was a toss up between him or Keifer Sutherland. Brad just looked better in the hat . .

Well you'd still be doing the sound track, and you'd have to coach him a little too . .
[This message was edited by Rick Alexander on 08 January 2005 at 10:30 AM.]

That photo was taken at the ISGC back in 1988
From Left to right is Johnny Pell a fine singer and a great bass player. Rick Martinez from Higgins Texas,Myself,,Speedy West, and Hank Pell a great steel player who doubles on fiddle and does vocals. They call themselves "The Texas Panhandle Band" they do well back east. Great sounding group and a nice bunch of guys. We were not playing in St.Louis as a group. I did the ISGC for Scotty that year and we wanted Speedy to take a picture with us.

The Steel guitar world lost a fine guy and a great steel player when Speedy passed a few years back.

I look like a combination of Boris Karloff and Jimmy Durante on that plaque...my dammed nose aint that big,,,Tom Bradshaw was supposed to give me a nose job but he didnt keep his promise Image Hey Tom...you made my nose too big.

Rick you dont want to be like me when you grow up,,Im not grown up yet either. Image

I can thank Scotty,Herb Steiner,Winnie Winston,Tom Bradshaw,Fred Layman, the late Jeff Newman and most of all Bob Maickle for that plaque.

It weighs 45 lbs and I carry it into Walmart hoping to get a discount..so far nothing.

Thanks for exposing me Image
