Peavey's Batteryless ProFex11 battery mod ?

Post by basilh »

This is No reflection on Mike Brown or Ken Fox, as you can see from my previous posts I think the world of him and his mods, AND, in a previous post Peavey thanked Ken for his work. It's a pity Peavey UK don't know about him..

I sent one of mine to Peavey UK with a problem of low output, and explained about the "Ken Fox" battery-less mod. Anyway it came back with a bill for over $100.and A BATTERY FITTED..?

And this message SYSTEM BATTERY LOW.. with a NEW battery charged for ?

Charged for a new battery and cleaning the track that I had thoroughly cleaned with Isopropyl alcohol when I took out the battery and fitted the BatteryLess mod chip.

They are, as they say, "Looking into it"

Whilst this is not an 'Official Peavey" endorsement, it's pretty close to one..

If you wore a grass skirt I'd say your problems would be over Basil.

This not a Peavey mod and the reason the Peavey repair facility knew nothing about it. If you want the batteryless chip you will have to get it from Ken Fox, only.

Basil's point, I think, is that his unit HAD the batteryless mod and Peavey UK replaced the missing battery with a new one....which he had explained, didn't need one. They obviously didn't test it before returning it.

Basil, was the low output problem fixed?
Best regards,
Mike

Since Peavey didn't know about the mod, they would have restored it to factory specs, which included a battery.

Mike, that's what I was saying.
The low output WAS fixed, but my point was the service dept. charging me for an unnecessary 'Repair' regarding the battery, (which if you look at the picture, reads "SYSTEM BATTERY LOW") AND for cleaning the track (I fail to see how you can clean a track that's ALREADY been cleaned, de-greased and re shellacked)

Jack, as for Peavey not being aware of the mod, see Mike Brown's quote above, I made them aware of it in the note accompanying the returned unit explaining the fault, AND they did replace the chips for Burr Brown ones last year, so they were familiar with both me and my unit.
I also included my contact numbers for them to call me PRIOR to commencing work to get confirmation of the costs being acceptable.
They didn't.

Richard, I think that the Grass Skirt WAS the main reason I needed the batteryless mod in the first place, I was preparing for my exile to some far distant shore where batteries are in short supply and men are still needed by the fair sex !!
