45 years ago I was almost 15. I was playing guitar and singing in a little 3 piece band at school dances, teen hops and house parties.

I remember we did a killer rendition of "BeBopALula" . .

I played a Harmony Stratotone and a Harmony Amp. The amp bit the dust many years ago, but I still have the guitar.

Well Ray, let's see,,,,,,I think I was getting ready to go to kindergarden school ,,,,don't you know!
Actually, I think I was playing a little music, trying to continue my college education in Abilene, Texas,,,,playing a little music and ended up in the Army and playing a little music.
If you play 'em, play 'em good!
If you build 'em, build 'em good!

Living in Honolulu and in the middle of 2nd grade.
That summer I got a ukulele for my birthday (woo-hoo!)
A year later I would begin the campaign on my parents to get me an electric guitar (not fulfilled til Xmas 1966).
An aunt came over from the mainland in Jan 62 and gave me some lessons in oil painting- and through the years 61-63 I had also a tutor in French. It was the prehistoric age of rock & roll, until... of course, the next year...

Kinda nice to remember the good old days. I remember in 1961 in Korea, us guys would go to the PX and eat hamburgers & malts and listen to Faron Young sing "Hello Walls" and Patsy Cline singing "Crazy" on the juke box. Two big willie nelson songs. Didn't have any bands at the NCO club. To small of a compound as I was way out in the boon docks guarding "rice paddy's". I was in an Engineer Battalion. Had a USO show come one time and all I remember was the main guy looked and dressed like Col. Sanders. Had Donut Dollies come once a month on Sunday and they were the only american women I seen for 16 months. I guess the "good old days" weren't very good, "good old days". Miserable tour!!!

I was all of 3 years old, and my family was in the process of making the transition from Wiesbaden, Federal Republic of Germany (my birthplace) to Fort Dix, N.J. (temporary housing) to my Dad's new duty station, Fort Carson, CO. Dumped on the eastern edge of Colorado Springs, I was in a new wonderland of snakes, lizards, frogs, salamanders, turtles, and I brought each and every one of 'em home with me ('cept prairie rattlers)!

About that time, my folks decided to get me a dog. :D

Recuiting members for a harminca band. I had also just puchased my first 48 chord, chromatic harmonica; 24.7 inches long. Steel guitar was not even thought of at that point in time.

I was 8 yrs old our family just moved to Bedford Tx (DFW) from Tyler, Tx. Building tree houses, catching lizards, listening to my brother's 45's and fantacizing about making out with Leslie Gore.
It was two years later before my fantacies turned to playing rock & roll.

I was 14 in a trailer in Nevada where they practiced the oldest profession. And I swear on a stack of Bobbe Seymour CDs, the name of the town was Wadsworth.
Steel crazy after all these years.

$100 reward for info leading to the purchase of a fender D8 white, yellow, or butterscotch.

I was 15 and was just learning to play my Harlin Bros. steel, Double neck, 8 string, 6 pedals. Going from a six string lap steel to a pedal steel was quite an exasperating experience. Kept at it though and spent several years playing EM and Officers clubs at Camp Pendleton. Still like playing for troops, they always appreciate the music.

Just for you Ray. I buy my harmonicas custom made, like many who play steel guitar for a living. The one below, has 384 reeds, 48 chords and is worth $1,860.00 CDN from Germany. This one is almost new and is 23.7" lng. (I hope the picture works because we can't edit in here anymore)

I wonder if I could buy a good pedal steel guitar for that price?
