i have had my new star about a month now. all i can say is WOW! i would love to 'show it off', if someone would show me how to post pics. i've never done it before. i really don't know how to describe this guitar, other than, for me it's nothing more that the 'complete package'. the mechanics coupled with Dwight Cook's single coil pups, gives me the most beautiful tone i have ever experienced with an all pull guitar. virtuallly no cabinet drop, so it stays in tune very well; and it's so darned comfortable to play! pedals and knees just fit perfect. thanks to the forum for letting me brag a little and thanks inadvance to whom ever can help with the pics!

This is a beautiful machine. New Steels are getting better everyday. When you look at everything it takes to make these instruments. Most all the new ones are bargains.
Congrats and play on. I'm enthused by everyone that gets nterested in our great instrument. I really believe the 10 string instrument in the bible is a pedal steel , Not Harps. The double portion blessing is a D10.

That is nice to see. We make the inlays for Mark to use in those guitars but this is the first time I've seen a finished on.

He is just now finishing up my PSG and is shipping it to me on Monday.
I did the inlays and then sent the body back to him to finish.
It looks great from the pictures Mark sent me, but I am new to this forum and not sure how to post a picture???
Can anyone explain the how?

jeff, thanks for posting the pics of your star. i do not mind at all. your cabinet has mark giles written all over it! boy, he does beautiful work! and a heck of a guy to boot.

i believe they are in the process of building a web site, but i don't think it's finished yet. i have seen some laquer star's out there that are beautiful. the GREAT larry agan down in trinidad tx., owns a gorgeous s10. he builds the hardware. he is also one of the greatest guys in the world to know and/or do business with. if interested in these fine guitrars you can call albert talley @ 817-558-3481 or email dwight cook at cookie35@cox.net

If this worked??? Then the first two pics are the one Mark Giles sent me of the finished PSG sans the arm rest.
Lhe last pic is a close up of the front center Dragon inlay we did before the body was finished or even sanded.

Thanks Jim,
That was even less steps on the mac than you show for a windows machine.

I inlaid the fret board and had the guys at my workshop in Viet Nam do the body inlays. Mark Giles and his partner built the guitar.
I will get some better detailed close up pics when the guitar arrives next week.
Mark and I are already planning my next guitar as well as some other projects.

Hey, Andy, that's some beautiful work. Vietnam, you say? Spent some time there and brought one of the natives home with me (married 45 years now). Anyway, there was an artist there by the name of Thanh Le (pronounced tan lay) who was at the top of the trade for those Vietnamese "laques". I don't know if any of his students still do laquer/inlay work though. Most beautiful laquer hanging I ever saw was a red thingy, about 4 feet high by 8 or 9 feet long, of a nude in a jungle setting. Done with mother of pearl, abalone shell, star sapphires, and 22k gold inlay. That thing was owned by my wife's aunt, now deceased. I think it went with her daughter to France. (I have no idea how she shipped it there!) Anyway, just seeing that artwork brought back memories....

I have some of those Lacquer pictures here too that I have bought on my many trips there.
Been back over 20 times since 1999.
We have a work shop there, north end of Saigon where we make all our products for our web site.
Yes I like Vietnamese women and both my wife (2 Years) and ex (22 Years) are from there... 2 out of three VN and one Itialian wife (10 Years).
Been married 34 years all together so I must like it.

We are working on some new designs for Mother of Pearl & Abalone shel inlays for PSG. Fret inlays and Front Aprons.

Mark Giles has a partner who, If I understand right, does all or most of the machine metal work at another location.
Mark builds the wood cabinets for Star and several other PSG companies.
Hope I have that right????
Maybe Mark will pop in with an answer because I know he follows the forum sometimnes.

Well it arrived today.
It really is nice. I will stick some pictures here but they were taken just before sundown so every speck of dust showed up on the fret board... Oh well.
Not only does it play great and sound perfect but they sent it in a very good raod case that I didn't expect.

I will be some time trying to get my chops together since it's been almost ten years since I sat at a steel.
